So so happy for my son and his new fiancé ! We haved loved Melissa as a family member for the last six years and and I are thrilled to have a new daughter in our family forever. Congratulations you two - so excited for your new journey!

Black and white images. I know there are photographers who deliver every photo they take in both color and black and white. There are also photographers who love that contrast so much they mostly deliver black and white.

But me? I want to hand pick what I think speaks to me in black and white... and two things tend to emerge. First is texture - I love images that have layers and stories and that make your eyes wander around the frame...not being able to take it all in at one glance. They're harder to achieve but so satisfying to my storytelling heart. The second is emotion. Black and white images strip away any distraction and just slam you right into how someone is feeling in that second. I never get tired of deciding which precious handful get my attention in black and white. I'm always tweaking and layering and pushing and pulling highlights and shadows.

So when you see one of my images in black and white? I'm trying to tell you something. 🖤

The best part of releasing your wedding video is getting to relive it with all your friends and family! ❤️❤️❤️ There's so many more responses and each and everyone is treasured. J and I spent yesterday reading each other the things everyone said to us!

One. Year.

I didn't do a good job last year of really talking about our wedding. I was too overwhelmed by HOW AMAZING it was being surrounded and supported by our family and friends. I was emotional over marrying this man that was truly one of the human beings to really KNOW me. And I just…wanted to soak it all in. How much everyone helped us. How amazing everything went together. How kind and incredible our vendors were.

We will never be the same. Each person gave us a little piece of themselves (and sometimes big giant pieces) to help us celebrate how much we love each other. J and I, one full revolution around the sun, still find ourselves steeped in gratitude and awe. This happened. We found each other. We love each other.

Sullivan Slentz put together our wedding video — and this five minutes has become so precious to us. I have watched it and cried and watched it and cried. So amazing.

Thank you to ALL of you. From the bottom of our hearts. We really want to be the people known for kindness and generosity — and through planning our wedding — we learned SO many lessons about what being loved means — that we will be better, kinder, bigger hearted and snarkier (because come on. Swales. lol), If you watch the wedding video (link in profile)— you’ll see how I feel on the inside. Which is rare. I love this man so much. I love his family so much. And he loves me and mine. isn’t that CRAZY??
