This male red-morph Eastern Screech owl was resting, but still aware we were there to watch him. His mate was keeping a low profile in another nest cavity with the babies, so he was taking a well deserved break from finding food. 😎

I've seen all 12 Owl species that are known to call MN home at some point in the year. Although 2 of them, the Barn and Burrowing, I had to see outside of the state as they're becoming very rare to find here any longer.
However, a couple weeks ago, I finally checked off a Burrowing owl in Minnesota! Located in the West-central region, I found it hunting from the top of a post right on the side of a road. 😍
(now if you know where a Barn owl can been seen in MN, I'm all ears!) 😎
