studiotwosevennine.com I only knew I wanted to learn how.

My interest in photography started at a very young age. I have always loved how photography has the ability to capture a single, solitary, moment in time and make it virtually last forever. When I was young I didn’t have the slightest idea of how a photograph was made. When I was maybe 14 or 15 my father, recognizing my interest in photography, gave me one of his old 35mm SLRs, a Ricoh Singlex (wh

ich I still have to this day). We went to the local camera store and picked up a few cheap, used lenses and I was on my way down a path I am still walking down today. While I was in high school I took a darkroom class and was the photo editor for the school newspaper for two years where I learned a lot about the mechanics of film photography. This stint in the red light gave me a good base of knowledge to build on. In 2009, after a number of years where I was not able to pursue my passions, I finally made the switch from film to digital and made a conscious effort to improve in all facets of photography. Over the years I have accumulated the knowledge, experience, and equipment to tackle any photographic assignment that comes my way. So, no matter the subject matter, size, scope, or complexity of your project, I am confident I can deliver the images you need. Bad weather makes good photos. Rain adds a layer of context that isn't always apparent in "good weather photos." Bad weather also makes you think outside the box. On a beautiful day, I can tell you where the sun will be in the sky at Lime Rock based on the time of day and the time of year, and where the best photos can be had at any specific time of day. Or at least I know where I prefer to be. But when it's raining, I have to be more flexible in my thinking. I'm always taking into account the rooster tail of water that flies up behind a race car on a wet race track. Or the way headlights reflect on the wet pavement. Or making the race cars a background element and focusing on the umbrella instead.

From the moment today started, we were working under the threat of rain starting at any moment. And, when the rain came, it didn't stop. It never poured. Just a steady light rain for hours with a steadily dropping temperature. Both of the feature races were run entirely in the rain, and by the end of the day, I was cold, my gear was wet, and I was beat. When I feel as drained as I did at the end of the day today, both physically and mentally, I know I did work I can be proud of.

Have I ever told you about my worst day at the track? It was a pretty good day. And today was far from my worst.

I wasn't contracted to work at Lime Rock Park today, but I decided to show up anyway. It was great to catch up with friends and get some reps in before my first official day tomorrow.

We’re a week out from the 2026 Trans-Am Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, so I thought a gallery of some of my favorites from 2025 would be fun to make and share. Enjoy!

The theme of this year's Greater Rochester Camera Club Summer Show is Black and White. I chose my 2 entries today. This one came a close third. I love the way the contrast converted to black and white.

When I describe Lime Rock Park to someone, I always talk about how it sits at the bottom of a valley, surrounded by the Berkshire Mountains, and how the sound of the race engines echoing off the mountainsides is almost musical. This 13-image panoramic taken last September at Historic Festival 43 captures this unique and beautiful attribute pretty well, I think.

This is the view from The Lime Rock Drivers Club, overlooking the outside of Turn 1, known as Big Bend. To the right is a look down the Sam Posey Straight, under the Pedestrian Bridge, toward the start/finish line and the Pagoda. To the left and into the scene is Turn 2, the rest of Big Bend, followed by the Short Chute. Then the Left Hander and the Right Hander, collectively known as The Esses. From there, we lose sight of the track as it continues down Paul Newman Straight.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been documenting this amazing place for the last 8 years, working with people I am legitimately privileged to know.
