🤗 The hugs, smiles, tears, grit, and determination reached a level 10 at the 2026 Conquer Chiari Walk Across America. 🚶♀️🚶♂️ Rain shmain. ☔️ Nothing was stopping the event organizers, the guest speakers, the families, the D.J., the dancers, and especially the walk participants in their collaborative quest to educate, learn, and raise awareness and funds for Chiari malformation research. 👒
WHAT IS CHIARI? 📖
Chiari malformation (kee-AH-ree mal-for-MAY-shun) is a condition in which tissue from the lower part of the brain, called the cerebellum, enters the spinal canal. When the skull is shaped in a way that is not typical or when the skull is smaller than usual, the skull can press on the brain and force brain tissue down into the spinal canal.
Some people with Chiari malformation (CM) may have no symptoms, while others experience headaches, balance problems, neck pain, or more severe neurological complications. When treatment is needed, surgery is often recommended.
