A little note from me 💛
After a lot of thought, I have made the decision to no longer share images that show children’s faces on my social media pages.
As many of you know, photography is more than a business to me, it’s preserving the people and moments that matter most. Because of that, protecting my clients has always been a priority. Over the years, I have had many families choose not to allow their children’s images to be shared online, and I have always respected and honored those wishes without question.
Unfortunately, we are living in a time where advances in AI and technology have created new concerns for parents and photographers. There are people who actively search social media for photographs they can misuse, and I am simply not willing to contribute to that risk when it comes to the children I have the privilege of photographing.
This decision wasn’t made lightly. As a photographer, social media is one of the primary ways I showcase my work and connect with future clients. Family sessions, weddings, newborns, and milestones make up such a large part of what I do, and choosing not to share many of those images will undoubtedly make marketing my business more challenging.
But some things are more important than marketing.
The trust my clients place in me is something I value deeply, and protecting innocent children will always outweigh the need for content.
Moving forward, you may see more images from behind, detail shots, silhouettes, adult portraits, landscapes, and other creative ways of sharing my work while maintaining this boundary.
If you’ve ever shared my name with a friend, left a review, tagged me in a post, or recommended me to your family, thank you. Word of mouth has always been the heart of my business, and now more than ever, those recommendations mean the world to small businesses like mine.
Please know this doesn’t mean I’ll be capturing fewer families. I can’t wait to continue documenting your lives and watching your families grow for years to come. Just because I’m not sharing all of the beautiful faces I photograph doesn’t mean I’m not capturing them. In fact, some of my favorite images are the ones that will never make it to social media, the tiny hands wrapped around yours, the belly laughs, the sleepy cuddles, and all the little moments moms and dads wish they could hold onto forever. Those moments have always been the heart of what I do, and that will never change!
With love,
Austyn
