Pod of Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins

What an extraordinary experience this was getting to see these dolphins swimming about living their best life in the waters of the great Atlantic just off the coast of Assateague Island. Thank you Daisey's Island Cruises for never disappointing us.

This was my 5th boat tour with Daisey Island Cruises and once again they wowed us. They’re truly a wonderful group of people and I highly recommend taking a tour with them if you ever visit Chincoteague or are ever in the area.

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Overlook

We always stop here after crossing the astonishing 17.6 mile long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. This bridge tunnel system stretches from mainland Virginia (Norfolk) to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It’s truly an amazing sight and experience as you cross this bridge. It dips 134ft below the surface of the water twice to allow for large ships to cross over. It’s fun to try spotting the dolphins. My recommendation for spotting them, don’t look out too far. While looking through the railing bars, I often see them surfacing within 100-400ft of the bridge. Spotting the ospreys on the light poles is also kind of fun.

100th Annual Assateague/Chincoteague Island Wild Pony Swim

Working against the sun made it difficult for me, so the pictures aren’t great, but still a really cool experience that I wanted to share.
There were so many people there it was crazy to see how far along the shore. They were lined up for almost 1-mile and thousands more were lined up along the road for the parade. The new record for the highest bid for one of the ponies was set that week and it was for a buyback that went for $100,000.

Thank you Daisey's Island Cruises for giving us the perfect spot for this swim. I know there’s a lot of time, work, and organization that goes into preparing for this in order to ensure everyone gets what they paid for and in order to keep everyone safe during this chaotic time. I truly had a wonderful time. Thank you Ramsey, Lacey, and Scott. for keeping us all as safe as possible before, during, and after the swim.

White Tailed Deer Fawn

This little guy jumped out in front of me right at the end of our driveway so I pulled in and went to find him again. He walked right up to me, so I let him sniff my hand. He backed off and walked back into the grass. He had a small wound on his right front leg, but I think he’ll be okay. I walked down the road a little to see if there were any others and he started following me. What a lovely interaction with wildlife.
