Mama to four littles
Utah Based

My name is Danielle Wilstead and I am a birth doula, trained HypnoDoula, belly binder, and photographer serving the Salt Lake valley and surrounding cities. I have apprenticed with Julie Huber and trained with Lauralyn Curtis, both so influential. I have a wonderful and supportive husband and am a mama to our two wild, eccentric, beautiful boys. From a very young age, I recognized the beauty of pr

egnancy, childbirth, and motherhood. It wasn't until the birth of my own children that I knew I wanted to support and empower other women as they welcome their babies into the world. When a women feels safe and supported in the choices she has made for herself and her baby, that is when she begins to feel fearless and powerful. I am dedicated to helping mothers and couples achieve their idea of an empowered birth. I hold space for a mother in any setting so that she may orchestrate her birth and, in turn, I follow her lead. My hands, heart, and knowledge are lent to her during this sacred journey into motherhood. Above all, I am here to assist you in any way you need. Happy Birthing!!

Writing a birth plan is a powerful step in your birth planning process. It helps you understand your options, communicate your preferences, and feel more prepared going in.

But birth has its own rhythm. Sometimes things shift. Sometimes choices change.

So write that plan. Know what matters to you. And then hold it with flexibility.
Because birth isn’t about control. It’s about feeling supported, respected, and informed every step of the way.

You don’t need a doula.
But it might change everything if you have one.

A doula won’t make your birth easy.
They’re not there to fix or control anything.

They’re there to help you stay steady when things get intense.
To remind you of your options when things start moving fast.
To be another set of hands, eyes, and calm energy in the room.

That matters more than you think when you're deep in labor and trying to stay present.

This is your birth.
A doula just helps you hold onto it.

Birth Photography Isn’t Just for sharing on Instagram..

It’s for you. For when you want to remember what it felt like. For when your child asks about the day they were born. For when you need a reminder of your strength.

Birth is powerful and raw. You may not remember the way your partner held your hand or how strong you looked in the moment. This isn’t just about pretty pictures. It’s about preserving the story of how your baby entered the world.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to chat about how we can incorporate birth photography into your story. ❤ Feel free to send me a DM!

Home birth has a way of weaving the whole family into the story.

Siblings aren’t just bystanders. They’re part of it. Watching. Helping. Holding space.

These images aren’t just about a baby being born… they’re about a family growing together in real time.

There’s something incredibly powerful about letting kids witness the strength and softness that birth holds.

OB vs. Midwife vs. Doula: What’s the Difference?

Let’s break it down 👇

OB (Obstetrician):
A medical doctor trained to manage pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
They can prescribe medications, perform surgeries like C-sections, and manage high-risk pregnancies.
Most OBs work in hospitals.

Midwife:
Licensed and unlicensed professionals who specialize in supporting low-risk pregnancies with a more hands-on, holistic approach.
Midwives can attend births at hospitals, birth centers, or even at home (depending on licensure).
They often prioritize less intervention, but are trained to monitor safety closely.

Doula:
Not a medical provider, but don’t underestimate their impact.
Doulas offer emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
They help you advocate for yourself, stay calm, and feel supported wherever and however you birth.

There are rarely moments that leave you as breathless as this one.

Surrogacy isn’t simple. It’s layered, emotional, and deeply human.
But when you see a moment like this, you understand why people choose it.

This is the kind of connection that stays with you.

I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with things that make you feel safe and supported during birth. Words of affirmation, meaningful decor, or symbols of your faith. These small touches can have a big impact. They help ground you, calm your nervous system, and transform your birth space into a place that feels like yours.

Birth is deeply personal. Make the space reflect you.

FAQ: Do you offer other types of sessions?

While my specialty is birth photography, I absolutely love capturing families and connections. In addition to birth sessions, I offer Golden Hour, maternity, newborn/Fresh 48, and family sessions with minimal posing. These sessions focus on natural moments and authentic connections, just like my birth sessions.

In my 9 years as a birth photographer and doula, I’ve learned three important things:

1. Your story is worth preserving. Whether it’s for yourself, your children, or for the world to see, your birth story deserves to be remembered.

2. The birth of a child cannot be repeated. Every birth is as unique as the child it brings into the world.

3. Birthing people (moms AND dads) often forget parts of their birth stories. In the midst of the hard work of bringing a baby into the world, it’s easy to miss moments. Birth photography captures the details so they’re never forgotten.

If you've been considering hiring a birth photographer, THIS IS YOUR SIGN!

The postpartum period is a beautiful but often overwhelming time. To help make those first few weeks easier, here are some thoughtful ideas to support new parents:

Meal Trains: A meal train can be a lifesaver. Friends and family can sign up to bring home-cooked meals or takeout, ensuring there’s always something nourishing to eat without the stress of cooking.

Nesting Parties: Gather your friends for a nesting party! Help set up the baby’s space, fold laundry, or even create some freezer meals to prepare for those late-night feedings. It’s a fun way to get everything ready while enjoying quality time together.

Household Help: Sometimes, a little extra help goes a long way. Whether it's cleaning or running errands, a few hours of assistance can give new parents the break they need.

Take Care of the Small Stuff: Offer to do little things that add up, like picking up diapers, walking the dog, or organizing the baby’s clothes.

What did someone do for you that was helpful during the postpartum period?

FAQ: Do you share every birth on social media?

I’m passionate about sharing empowering birth images because they help shift the cultural narrative around motherhood and birth. However, I completely respect families who prefer to keep their birth images private. During our consultation, we’ll discuss what you’re comfortable with sharing, and I will always honor your privacy preferences.

For a limited time, I’m offering a free newborn session with to families who allow me to share their birth images. This is a $500 value! It’s a small way to thank you for helping empower others through your story.
