Spring has sprung! This is the face that only a mother, and me, the wildlife/nature lover could love. We have 3 nests full of baby birds under the eves of our home. I think this nest is housing the oldest of the three sets of babies. We have another one that looks like the nestlings are just a day or two old. This little one pictured was keeping a keen eye on me from it's comfy little perch. Momma was in the tree in the front yard warning me not to get too close with my camera. Luckily for her and baby, I had my telephoto lens on and could capture this cutie from the ground. I always love to watch them make their little homes at our house, even if it is a bit messy.

It has been a while since I posted to this page. It has been a while since I have grabbed my camera and took some shots just for the joy of capturing something that interested me. We have had some rain on this May 2nd day and it brought out a lot of garden creatures. When I came home from running errands I noticed a couple of slugs slithering along on our front side walk. As I said, I haven't spent much time with my camera, and it's been a long time since I put my macro lens on it. I decided as soon as I came home that I wasn't going to worry about my to-do list and I was just going to take some time to enrich my soul. It may seem odd that photographing slugs was my way of doing that, but I wanted to see their details up close and I love how my macro helps me see things that my eyes cannot as easily see.

Even the slug is beautiful if you take some time to really look at it!

I sat outside tonight with my camera hoping I would be able to capture this little one and his partner who have been landing and sitting on my fence lately. No such luck with that, but I did get these photos. I was shooting against the sun, but I kind of love the silhouette that doing so created. My favorite is the last one where he looks to be waving goodbye.

Being watched like a hawk, or make that a dove!

This little beauty and his/her partner were hanging out in our backyard this morning. They were kind enough to let me get nice and close with my camera, but boy was my every tiny move being watched with those little eyes.

Young Dove: This little beauty was hanging out in our backyard behind our shed this afternoon right up against the fence amonst the rock and dirt. I almost stepped on him/her. We first saw him/her today when we left the house just hanging out on a ledge by our garage. I had a great model to photograph until I put on a glove and stuck out my hand to see if he/she would climb on. That was a definite no and off he/she went.

Backyard Hummingbird May 2020

One of my greatest joys in life is capturing wildlife with my camera. It's even more fun when I can capture them in my own backyard. I absolutely love sitting, sometimes for hours at a time, to take on the challenge of trying to sharply capture these quick little beauties as they feed on my feeder.

Title: Bugged Out
We took a little time today to get out of the house and enjoy nature up at Red Hills for a few hours. Greg flew his drone and I spent my time photographing the wild flowers. I captured this favorite with my macro lens. How many creepy crawly little creatures can you find in this photo?

I enjoyed some time with my camera today photographing the almond blossoms out at my parent's home. The lighting was a little mid afternoon harsh, but I enjoyed some peaceful time in the orchard among the beautiful blossoms and watching the honey bees work their magic.
