It was diesels galore on the Belvidere & Delaware River Railway and Black River & Western Railroad this holiday season. On the "Bel-Del", GP10 #1823 and GP9 #811 did pull-pull service on Delaware River Railroad's Polar Express. SW1200 #1202 and Black River Trust owned SW9 #438 powered Black River & Western's Santa Express. A mechanical issue with #438 prompted SW1500 #1567 to sub on the Santa Express this past weekend.

We haven’t posted in a while, so here is an update: SW1500 #1567 - ITS ALIVE! 🧟‍♂️ After sitting out of service for a number of years in Ringoes, NJ on the Black River & Western, #1567 was sent to Knoxville Locomotive Works to get re-engined. It will be headed back to the Black River & Western where it will be assigned to freight service.
Furthermore, GP10 #1823, which was sold to the Maryland & Delaware Railroad in recent years, then sold back to Black River Railroad System/Chesapeake & Delaware after Carload Express took over MDDE, has arrived and is in storage in Phillipsburg, NJ on the Belvidere & Delaware River Railway awaiting its next assignment. We’d like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! 🎃 👻
