My heart has been heavy today losing one of the most kindest woman that I have known. This spunky 97-year old tiny little lady has been one of my greatest examples in my life. She has taught me to be selfless and not worry about what I have but what I can give. When we first moved to Rigby in 1995, this little lady tried to get my husband and I to go to church. She never gave up...it took several years as we were a work-in-progress. There was never a week that went by that she didn't stop by to bring us either twinkies, ding dongs, homemade biscuits, candy, the list goes on. She was our little missionary that got us back into the church and sealed in the temple in 1999. She always stopped by every week to see how we were and always brought us something. She always gave everything she had.
We grew very close over the years and always wondered if I could ever repay her. Norma has written a column in the Jefferson Star for many decades. A few years ago she struggled getting and remembering information. I was prompted that I needed to help her which was totally not my area of expertise. This was the most rewarding time as I got to go see her every week and spend time with her and also have her over for dinner. We even spent time together at the Temple which was her favorite place to go. She would cry seeing me every week because it meant so much to her.
Norma would go everyday of the week to the Temple from 5am til noon. She had so much energy. Every time I would pull up to her house she would be working on her yard or her garden...remind you she is in her 90s!!! I am so thankful for her kindness to me and my family and happy that she is reunited with her husband and family members but sad for all of us here that are missing her deeply. There are numerous others that share the same story as she has touched so many lives. I hope that I can be like her! I am going to miss you Norma and can't wait for our reunion together. Love you...til we meet again!
