Bring Your Arsenal!

Sony a7iv + 20mm f1.8 - Blend with single frame

This is a different shot from the same weekend. When I was planning for the weekend trip and the shoot, I was not sure exactly what I would like better or what I would get exactly. I decided to bring both of my cameras and multiple different lenses so I can be ready and flexible to handle different scenarios. Since the other shot required a lot more babysitting, this one needed one composition that could be done in the time lapse mode to set it and forget it. In the end, I found this spot on the side of the arsenal cave so it's well out of the way from night traffic. Two shots from the same night took some serious planning, ex*****on, and luck! So glad that I had everything that I needed and was ready!

2 : 1 vertical is probably my favorite format for Milky Way photos. It is also quite fun and challenging because of the amount of steps that it takes to compile such an image. Besides the planning, finding the composition, and the luck of good weather, collecting the RAW material and post processing are also heavily involved and take a lot of time/effort. However when everything works out to your vision, that a great send for me. Although I didn't send my climbing project during that weekend, I sent my photo project!

龍洞的夏夜晚風 (Summer Night Breeze At Long D**g/The Dragon Cave)

Besides the usual light pollution from the nearby city and fishing boats and crazy weather with strong wind and fast moving clouds, the crux of this image was probably finding the opportunity and people to go with, ones that are crazy enough to be playing outside so late. Luckily I met some good people that were also planning on doing some night climbing photos, so I got to tag along to climb and took some photos. Since I didn't get to visit Long D**g that often and the condition wasn't optimal, I had to abandon two other compositions and focused on this one. Even though the conditions were so bad, but thanks to the modern technology, I was able to salvage the images to make it work. It was definitely a night to remember, especially the salty sea breeze and the sound of the ocean waves.
