Instagram image for the week - https://www.instagram.com/naturesfinestimages/ I took this image 3 years ago this weekend. This is the San Juan Mountains in Colorado at sunset with a clearing storm. Almost every morning I hike from our house to this overlook with the neighbor's dog.

My good friend Angela Kindig-Moyer has been capturing some amazing images of fresh aspen leaves for the past few years. This past weekend I had her show me how to do it which was totally not what I expected. Here's my first attempt. I liked this image with the aspen trunk in the background being out of focus enough to still tell it is an aspen trunk while making the leaves in the foreground stand out. Still have a lot of practice to do yet..........

Instagram image for the week - https://www.instagram.com/naturesfinestimages/ This is sunrise at Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah. It's quite rare to get a sunrise like this after a fresh snowfall in this part of Utah. I shot this many years ago with my large format camera.

Instagram image for the week - https://www.instagram.com/naturesfinestimages/ I heard about this free-standing arch in New Mexico several years ago. Colleen and I headed down there this past week to see if we could find it. It's in a location that if you don't have exact directions on how to get to it, you'll never find it as none of the backroads are marked and there is no trail. Upon finding it, I was amazed at how photogenic is was. It's probably one of the top 3 arches I've ever been to. We hiked to it for both sunset and sunrise. This particular shot is from sunset which I didn't think would happen since it was so overcast. Right at sunset the sun popped out for a few minutes and lit it up. The dark storm clouds behind it really made it pop. I'll definitely be returning in the future!

Instagram image for the week - https://www.instagram.com/naturesfinestimages/ Here's one I took when Colleen and I went to Panama a number of years ago to check out the country for possibly purchasing a beachfront condo. Combined, we've been to over 60 countries. Panama was the only one we couldn't wait to leave. It was the most corrupt country we've ever visited and is absolutely nothing like what you read in the glowing brochures. It also has the worst drivers we've ever experienced. Needless to say we'll not be returning.
