Well, we planned to shoot at Old City Hall and they said they were open until 7 for their new hours… but that was a lie, lol. So we pivoted, walked the city, looked for light, and made something beautiful.

The Art of weddings. One thing I’ve been sitting with lately is light.
Light is like the drummer in a band, if you know anything about music. The drummer leads the set. They make it rise and fall. They hold the whole day together. Go against them and it’s chaos. Pretend they don’t exist and everyone notices, and not in a good way.

Light works the same way. You follow it. It tells the story. It pulls you into something real and beautiful. To work against it is to work against the art itself.

Light is the canvas you paint on. Everything else comes after.
The art of weddings starts with noticing the light. And to notice the light is to notice the story.

Tuscany at Liberty Loft. So glad I got to be part of this. The most beautiful thing about this shoot was not the light or the styling or the orange glow all evening. It was the people. A room full of photographers and vendors, some I have known for years and some I had never met, and somehow it felt like everyone already knew each other. I love events like this.

If you have never been to Liberty Loft or you are in the middle of planning your wedding, I want you to know this place is something special. The space does its job, but the people who work there are what make it. Your day will be in good hands.

I wanted to post every photo from this night because everyone showed up. I Had to narrow it down to the ones that caught my attention and that I loved. I tried to lean into that warm orange light to pull out the Tuscany feel. Thank you to everyone who made this happen. Big shout out to Morgan at and Haley at and for pulling this all together. Beautiful job.

A lot of my work has deeper meanings and approaches that take a lot of thought, and then there are shots like this mixed in. They still take thought, but the real purpose is just beauty. Capturing what I would call early love. This season is like the first three days of warm weather after a long winter.

These are the moments I love. I love trends, I really do. But the moments when people are fully engaged, whether by choice or simply because the moment pulls them in — those are what I’m looking for.

A dad turning away, trying to be strong, but being overtaken when he sees his little girl. Uncontrollable celebration for a sister. Wonder found in the light coming from above. The tight grip of a father’s hand walking down the aisle.

These are the moments that matter. These are the ones that last. If I had to use a trending word, I’d say they’re truly timeless.

Stressful weddings are ending.

The blurry memories. The overly hyped trends done just because you saw them somewhere. The pressure to perform instead of be present. That needs to end.

Let’s create with intention. Let’s build a wedding day that actually feels like you and capture it in a way that is honest and personal.

Editorial. Moody. Light and airy. Those styles matter. They’re beautiful. But how your photographer sees and shoots the day matters more.

Any trend layered on top of a wedding can look good for a moment. What interests me is something deeper, a wedding that is genuinely planned around the couple’s story, values, and personality. A day shaped by who you are, captured by someone who takes the time to see it and tell it well.

The editing is the topping on the cake.
But the story you live and the day you thoughtfully plan are the ingredients that make something truly beautiful.

A new favorite spot for engagement photos in Richmond, Virginia is now .

Ashley and Patrick ended up choosing this place which I didn’t know existed, and I’m so glad we did.

Almost every couple tells me the same thing: “We don’t know what to do.” “We don’t take photos much.” “We’re awkward.”

And then they show up… and look like this.

You don’t need to be a model to feel confident in front of the camera. You don’t need experience to look good in your photos. Just show up. Be yourself. That’s enough. One of my favorite parts of my work is watching people discover their own beauty through it. It’s something I genuinely hope for with every couple. Being nervous is normal. It’s expected. But I love watching that nervousness slowly turn into confidence when they finally see what I see.

Ashley and Patrick, you two did such a great job. I can’t wait for the big day.

This was such a fun wedding. So many of the sweetest moments happened in places that already felt familiar, which made everything feel more real.

I’ve noticed this pattern over and over again, and you probably already know it, but I’ll say it anyway: the more relaxed a bride can be, the more everyone enjoys the day.

It’s easy to overcomplicate things in hopes of making them better. But most of the time, the simpler it is, the more meaningful it becomes.

Faster than most people realize.

What lasts isn’t how much was photographed.
It’s how closely it was seen.

For me, investing in photography isn’t about coverage or quantity.
It’s about choosing someone who cares enough to slow down.
Someone who notices the quiet moments that don’t ask for attention.
The pause before the aisle.
A father watching his child.
The stillness that holds the weight of the whole day.

This kind of work takes time.
It takes presence.
It takes choosing care over speed.

That’s what the investment protects.
Not just images of a wedding day,
but an honest record of what this beginning actually felt like.

I’ve started shooting with my Fuji camera at weddings alongside my Canon, and I’m really enjoying the process. These are unedited, just light, attention, and intention. I love real film, but at weddings this lets me get a similar feel without missing moments. After these weddings, I’ve spent weeks dialing in my Fuji recipe, and I can’t wait to shoot the next session with it and share what I’ve come up with. This was more of trial run and what’s to come. I’m hoping you will love it! What are your thoughts on this?
