The weather is warming up and the ice is thawing! The perfect time for some Explorer šŸ˜
A combination of French Oak from the Forest of TronƧais and White Oak from Appalachia ages this spirit produced from a 66% Corn, 30% Rye, and 4% Malted Barley for 6 years. Producing a highly structured, perfectly sweet, and complex Bourbon perfect for any adventure.
Excited for the ice to thaw on this one so I can crack it open and start enjoying!

I’m not entirely sure what I thought would come of me posting on Instagram however may years ago when I started this account, but getting to do all the adventures I’ve been able to do because of it was definitely not on the list.
A couple weeks ago, invited me to Utah for an epic adventure through Arches, Canyonlands, and Moab where we hiked, got lost, pivoted, went off roading, got lost some more, found ourselves in a very unique alien themed gas station, and some other surprises I can’t mention just yet ;). It was all for his new endeavors a new brand he’s launching that will not only be a fantastic whiskey brand, but also a podcast/YouTube series focused on the stories of different folks in the industry doing epic sh*t! (First episode goes out April 8).
During this trip, we enjoyed many pours together and talked about everything from the industry to life to why someone decided to put a taco sauce pack in his Tacoma Gas Cap… but this release really stood out to me. It’s one I haven’t tried before so when Nate pulled it out of his bag I was pretty excited! Just another example of the generosity and hospitality shown during this 5 day adventure!
Keep an eye out for more on these adventure/ podcast episodes (mine will be October/November) as I don’t think you’ll want to miss them.

I’m always behind the camera and never in front of it. So when asked me to be a guest on an episode of it wasn’t just a new place and adventure for me, it was one of the only times I’ve had to be in front of the lens. I started this account 8 or 9 years ago with one goal, improve my photography and videography skills.
While on this trip to I talked a lot about how my first post on IG was the best I could do at the time. And I was proud of that photo. Today, I’m able to look back and see the progress I’ve made. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve accomplished so far but honestly feel like I’m just getting started!
Thank you Nate for pushing me out of my comfort zone and being so encouraging over the years. Can’t wait for this episode to drop šŸ˜

This winter we finally got a stack of wood for our fireplace. The cold winter nights have been the perfect occasion for a little fire and whiskey 🤤
What’s your go to fire side pour??

Curious what your favorite E.H. Taylor release is. I’ve had quite a few, and I don’t know if this rye is necessarily my ā€œfavoriteā€ but I do really enjoy this one. Every time I come back to it šŸ™Œ

A perfect backdrop for enjoying latest release, Outryder. This release isn’t a bourbon or a rye, but a blend of various batches from the distillery, fitting for the name. An Outryder in horsemen terms is someone who secures the herd’s flank. Ensuring expensive cattle or thoroughbreds remain safe. They oftentimes make their own trail, adapting to the needs of the herd.
Sipping this limited edition, I see why this name was chosen. I’m getting a wide variety of flavors, likely due to the blend of two different mash bills.
Nose: Aromas of baking spices, fruit, and caramel, with herbal (typically rye) notes.
Palate: Brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, mint, and some green pepper. It’s a very interesting balance that I quite like!
Finish: A long, spicy finish, with notes of oak, cinnamon, and baking spice (more of a clove influence and less of a nutmeg baking spice imo).
Overall I’m really impressed with this one! Could be a great holiday grab for yourself or any whiskey enthusiasts šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
If you’ve already tried this one, I’d love to know what you think and how my review compares!

A snow day here in Virginia with a bit of is a magical combination! This brand has been gaining more and more popularity and I was incredibly excited to find a bottle to call my own while recently in Ohio. A blending, rebarreling, and finishing house in downtown Lexington, this team is really doing some fun stuff!
This ā€œBarely Legal Bourbonā€ is very interesting to me. 51% corn and 49% rye with a bit of a twist. This one has 10% malted rye which is honestly one of my favorite grains to see in a mash. Idk that I’ve seen a recipe with this combination before and can’t wait to crack into it.
Ultimately, I’m really excited to see more from this brand and curious if folks have explored their offerings? Which is your favorite?

Sometimes a simple photo is all you need. And a seemingly simple pour. I say seemingly because this Classic Laddie from is the base release but far from ā€œsimpleā€
A beautifully rich unpeated expression from Islay that personally I find to be pretty darn complex. But one of my favorite things is every bottle has a 5 digit code on the back of the bottle you can put into the Bruichladdich website and see what makes up this batch.
For example, 74 barrels went into making this specific batch released in July 29, 2020. Most of the barley was from the Scottish Mainland and all kinds of barrel types like Cabernet Sauvignon, Bourbon, MourvĆØdre, and others.
This level of transparency always blows me away and really enhances the experience. Sure I can just take some sips, OR I can sip while diving into exactly what I’m sipping šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
