Amir and Jess’s adventure session will always hold a special place in my creative heart.

It is one of the very first sessions I shot after deciding to specialize in outdoor adventure weddings and elopements (a side effect of making important business decisions in the winter in Virginia just months before the outbreak of a pandemic) and their session seriously - at the risk of sounding like a total cornball 🌽 - set my soul on fire.

I had so much fun working with them then, and was truly honored to get to be a part of their wedding celebration this past weekend with their friends and family.

Kate and Amy’s elopement and wedding day were such an honor to be a part of. 🙌✨

They eloped last fall in a private, no-stress, all fun hiking session in the mountains with just me and Caroline from there to witness it. They said their vows on the edge of a rocky cliff overlooking a stunning 180-degree mountain vista, I signed their marriage paperwork, and then we went for a little hike to a small waterfall.

They didn’t have to worry about what anyone else expected them to do. They didn’t have to let anyone else hear what they said to one another, they wore jeans and sneakers. It was great. 🥾

Then, come January, they held the most perfect little winter wonderland dinner party wedding you could ever imagine. They didn’t stick to a traditional wedding timeline, they did exactly what they wanted with exactly who they wanted and it was beautiful. ❄️

Seeing two people get to celebrate their love the way they want to without struggling under the weight of everyone else’s expectations is beautiful and refreshing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate Kate and Amy. 💚
