My name is Caroline and I am a Virginia and destination wedding and adventure elopement photographer based in Richmond, Virginia. I love people and telling stories through photographs! Photography, to me, is an art that I truly have a passion for and have for many years! Capturing true emotion, especially on a wedding day, is one of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer! I have to

say, every time I see a stunning bride walk down the aisle towards her husband to be, I can't help but get teary-eyed. I see the love in his eyes for his bride and the love and joy on her face when she sees him. This is just one of the many moments that makes me love being a wedding photographer! Since the start of Caroline Martin Photography, over 9 years ago, I have photographed at least 100 weddings and elopements around the country, and even abroad (I love to travel!) I find the most joy in capturing emotion and beauty in people and places. I hope to have the opportunity to tell your love story and look forward to getting to know you! Captured the CUTEST Labor Day weekend proposal! Tommy had it all planned out. He and I walked around Lewis Ginter the day before to make sure he found the perfect spot to propose in the beautiful garden because his sweetheart, Natalie, loves plants :) Everything went perfectly and she said YES! - at Weddings & Events at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

Katie & Brandon were married on their friend's beautiful property in Sparta, VA right in front of their pond! They spent 10 weeks tirelessly building the barn that they had their reception in, which was super impressive! I had so much fun experiencing the Sparta life for a day, racing down hills in a side-by-side and capturing the love and craziness of this awesome couple! Congrats, Katie & Brandon!! - Katelyn Ann

Should you book a second photographer for your wedding? Here are 5 reasons why it's a good idea!!

1. Angles: Second photographers capture so many important angles throughout the day! Some of those angles may be impossible for the main photographer to capture as they are capturing another view of what's happening, like the groom's reaction as the bride walks down the aisle!

2. Groom's Preparations: Since your main photographer will be with the bride and bridesmaids during preparation, your second photographer can capture groom and groomsmen preparations. (And any other shenanigans that go on in the guy's suite that you may miss out on 😉)

3. Help with Portraits: Second photographers are also amazing assistants and can really help during the formal portrait time of the wedding to help round people up, photograph the groomsmen as the main photographer photographs the bridesmaids, fluff the bride's dress, hold lights & more! They really just help the whole day run so much smoother!

4. First Look Coordination: If you're thinking about having a First Look with your partner, second photographers are great in helping to coordinate these photos. They may take the groom to the waiting spot and then inform the main photographer that he/she can lead the bride out to him. The First Look is also an important time to make sure multiple angles are captured, like both you and your partner's reaction when you see each other for the first time!

5. More Coverage & More Photos: Your wedding day will go by so fast and there is a lot to capture! Having two photographers is a HUGE help in capturing all events and all details of your wedding day! For example, sometime's I will have my second photographer capture posed portraits of each table at the reception while I am capturing candids on the dance floor. Or I'll have my second photographer capture detail photos of rings, accessories, etc. while I'm capturing more formal portraits with the bride and groom. Plus you get more photos delivered overall!

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of capturing Christina & Adam's backyard wedding! They were engaged for a year and a half, waiting on things to get better enough with Covid to have their big wedding celebration.
Unfortunately with all the restrictions still enforced, they decided to have a tiny backyard celebration at their home! Adam built an arbor and they decorated the yard beautifully! They had less than 10 people in attendance and several cameras set up to live stream the wedding and toasts!
The whole time, we were ready and waiting on the rain to come pouring down, but thankfully it held out for the entire day!
Despite all the restrictions, they really created a beautiful wedding 😊 Here are a few photos from their day!
