I haven’t posted much about my commercial work this year, so I thought I’d update everyone on some of the things I’ve done recently for Harry’s at Hofheimer. I think my favorite thing about my career in photography is when I get to photograph food and cocktails. Those shoots are always fun, and the staff gets to eat all of the incredible food that is created for the shoots.

Recently I worked with (Natalie), the owner and operator of Harry’s, to capture some of the food they needed for various online menus. This chicken sandwich and those shrimp tacos made my mouth water. Every dish that came out looked incredible!

I also worked to help them with imagery for social media to promote the DJs that host parties on all three floors of their building on the weekends after 9pm. Capturing motion in dark spaces is incredibly difficult!!!! I think these images give a sense of the fun that is experienced at Harry’s.

Rome was fast paced and loaded with historical information on this trip. Last week took part in an educational travel training seminar through EF Tours in Paris with approximately 30 other Virginia educators.  During our stay we spent the mornings learning about best practices, expectations, and how to establish travel programs at our schools.  In the afternoons and evenings we were treated to guided tours, historical lessons, and plenty of free time to explore the culture and sites of the city.  It was an incredible 3 days that were packed with so much learning.  I can't wait for the trip this upcoming summer with students to Italy/Greece, and feel so prepared to lead these students on an epic adventure. I’ll be posting some highlights from the trip over the next few weeks starting with this magical moment from the gardens of Versailles.

Meet the “Heart of Glass” one of the many craft cocktails conjured by Dakota Gibbs at . This one has butterfly pea flower infused tequila blanco, Cocchi Americano, lime, Mezcal-Elderflower foam, and habanero sea salt. This cocktail is for the adventurous with a sophisticated palate. I wanted to update everyone about an exciting photography project I’ve been working on recently. If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a new restaurant opening in Scott’s Addition where the Hof Garden was located. The new restaurant, Harry’s at Hofheimer, is a speakeasy-inspired craft cocktail lounge and restaurant that will be opening TOMORROW. The Art Deco inspired interior is really inviting and well lit with an attention to detail that plays off of the design aesthetic of the 1920s. The original artwork, created by local artist Todd Hale, is conceptual and contemporary. Each of the works of art addresses a famous Harry throughout history, but also pays a respectful nod to the infinite possibilities of Artificial Intelligence. The mashup of old and new works really well in this historic building.

I’m excited to be working with co-owners Carter Snipes and Natalie McNamara as the in house photographer. Here are a few shots that will give you an idea of the atmosphere you’ll enjoy while sipping on one of their beautiful craft cocktails designed by Dakota Gibbs, Harry’s mixologist and bar manager.
