I recently learned that February 1st is the feast of St. Brigid of Kildare (Ireland). She lived from 451-525 in Ireland and founded a major monastery at Kildare.

I had known she was one of the patron saints of midwives and newborns and fertility, but I also discovered she is the patroness of chickens and poultry farmers, as well as creatives/artists/poets, among other things.

As a doula (and aspiring hopefully someday midwife??), birth/newborn/family photographer, artist and designer, chicken farmer, and wife and mother to my own four precious babies, I think she is the perfect saint for me!!

Another sweet doula birth last night!! This time was a repeat client (second birth) who I did photography and doula work for both times.

Last birth was a whopping 52 hours of labor including 6 hours of pushing. She worked so hard for her vaginal birth of her 9 # 4oz baby boy…this time was 5 hours 13 minutes from first contraction to baby born! She welcomed a 9 # 1oz baby girl just over an hour after we all arrived at the hospital.

Definitely a very different experience and a lot to process when your mind barely has time to catch up with your body! But she was amazing and is very happy with how it all turned out.

Came home this morning and napped, when I got up Corbin had bought me coffee and fresh cinnamon rolls. I’m so thankful for this work and for my sweet husband who makes it possible for me to jump up and leave in the middle of the night whenever birth calls. ❤️

Left for a birth last night before bed, home this morning by sunrise.

Thankful for coffee. And thankful for God’s hand guiding us through this first-time-mom’s whirlwind induction.

They were waiting to find out gender—it’s a boy!

Took some chickpea soup and potato soup to a sweet postpartum mama I’ve known since high school this morning. I did her newborn session for her second little babe while she bribed her sweet firstborn with snacks to pose for photos. Headed outside for some pictures in the snow in front of their barn, dad and firstborn wore matching red check hunting caps. ❤️❤️

Prenatal visit this morning for a sweet repeat doula client who is in the home stretch! Hoping for her sake that she won’t have another bumpy 52 hour labor this time, but she is excited for labor and birth again, and knows she can do it if she has to. 💪

Driving is one of my favorite times to say my rosary, and I just love driving through this little part of the state. I find myself in awe of the beauty of God’s creation—there is so much to praise Him for.

So grateful to live in such a beautiful place, and to be able to do this sacred work.

Don’t worry, I was stopped when the photos were taken.

This was such a beautiful birth that I’m so thankful to have been a witness to…afternoon sun filtering through the orange-pink curtains, everyone peacefully and patiently watching and waiting with smiling and expectant faces and calm trust in mom as she moved and worked. Sweet baby girl was born with a strong set of lungs! Such an honor to be invited into these moments.

Coming down from photography busy season and looking forward to finishing an art commission, starting some design projects, and heading into teaching some more childbirth ed classes and attending some prenatal visits for some doula clients whose births I will attend later this winter!

Sometimes I wonder why I can’t just pick one thing. 🤣 But I love all of the work I do and all of the wonderful people I work with and the different things I get to be a part of.

I am really excited to be more involved in birth again after a bit of a break after having my youngest as he is getting a bit older. In case you missed it, I am taking doula clients for 2026! ❤️

Also in case you missed it, I am now teaching private childbirth education classes for home/birth center birth and hospital birth!🤰 This is a comprehensive and more personalized class that gives you more opportunity to interact one-on-one and ask questions of your instructor vs. the more standardized group class you might find in many hospitals.

I hope you all had a cozy and blessed Thanksgiving. I am feeling so blessed and thankful for my family, and all of YOU who make it possible for me to do all of the work I do! 🥰

Santa Photos at Court & Main are all DONE and uploaded!! We had the most children so far this year! Just under SIX HUNDRED photos edited and delivered (what’s sleep?). 🤩 Thank you all for your patience, and thank you so much for coming!! 🥰🎅🏻
