I’ve been doing newborn photography for about a year now. There’s a steep learning curve to newborn photography, and there have definitely been times where I’ve felt like quitting and moving to a different niche. I’m so glad I haven’t though. Newborn photography is what I love most, and I’ve made so much progress in the last year. I am SO GOOD at putting babies to sleep now 😂😅
I’ve come so far in the last year, and I can’t wait to see what I can do next.

I got to photograph the sweetest little girls! It was wonderful to see how different their little personalities were, even at just 1 week old.

I’m currently making the transition into In-Person-Sales, which means clients who book a session with me will get a whole experience. A pre-consultation, a style guide, the actual session, a reveal session, and they’ll receive physical art pieces customized to their home space and decor preferences. It’s going to be so fun!

Froggy is a controversial pose. It has to be done exactly right in order to avoid injuring the baby. Babies this little don’t have the strength to hold up their own head, so this pose is actually 2 photos combined to make it look like she’s holding her own head up. In reality, her dad had a gentle hand holding the top of her head, and I edited his hand out later 😊 Froggy is also really hard to do on a restless baby. For this reason, I only attempt this pose on super relaxed and sleepy babies. 🩷

A while ago I had a mom reach out about a session, and then she ended up declining because it was too expensive for their family. This is back when I was charging $125 for a newborn session. And it made me so sad to think that this mom isn’t going to have professional photos of her newborn to look back on.

In 2 months that baby chub will have come in. In 1 year they’ll be taking their first steps. In 5 years they’ll start school. The crib will be gone, the tiny baby clothes will have been outgrown, the baby bathtub will be put in storage until the next baby. Even the stroller won’t be used as much as it was during the first few years.
Babies outgrow things. Quickly. By the time they’re 3 years old, almost nothing remains from their newborn stage.

Just pictures.

Don’t miss out. Plan ahead. As soon as you find out your expecting, put a little money away for each of the 40 weeks that baby is growing in your belly, so when they arrive you can get their earliest, briefest, tiniest moments preserved forever. So when they’ve grown up and left home to start a family of their own, you can look back at those photos and appreciate how far they’ve come.
