Common misconception! Family photos have to be their own event!

You don’t need to carve out an entire day, dress everyone up, and put summer on hold.

Some of the most meaningful sessions happen when we simply join you for something you’re already doing.

A camping trip. An evening at the lake. A bike ride. A family tradition you’ve been doing for years.

The result is a gallery filled with real memories, real personalities, and the little moments that make this season of life unique.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since this camping session, but looking back at these images is a reminder of why I love photographing families this way. What feels ordinary today often becomes the memory you’ll treasure most years from now.

Not every family photo has to be serious.

When this family asked if we could recreate some of those gloriously awkward, old-school department store family portraits, the answer was an immediate YES.

And honestly? These might be some of our favorite images from the entire session.

We absolutely love when families bring their personalities into their photos. The perfectly posed, smiling-at-the-camera portraits are great, but the goofy traditions, inside jokes, and things that make your family uniquely yours are often the photos you’ll treasure the most years from now.
