Should you do an intimate first look before your ceremony, or save your first look for down the aisle?

Before the ceremony:
-Private decompression time with just the two of you
-You can knock out some of your couples portraits and bridal party portraits- more time for cocktail hour mingling!
-Amazing option if you want to share private vows

First look down the aisle:
-The wow factor is definitely there
-Less to worry about before the ceremony, just getting ready and hanging with your guys/gals
-If you don’t want a long list of family photos post-ceremony, attending cocktail hour with your guests can still be achievable!

If seeing your person before the ceremony will ground you and calm your nerves, a first look can be a great option. If you want the more traditional route of seeing eachother down the aisle for the first time, it’s an incredible feeling and surprise! Whatever you choose, you can work with your vendors to still maximize your time with guests and it will be the best day ever 🤍

In the wedding industry it’s so easy to get caught up in aesthetics, trends, and curation.

Let me tell you about one of my favorite weddings:

The bride and groom married in a casual and intimate indoor ceremony in an old school house on a snowy spring day.

Their adult children were their wedding party and gave the most heartfelt and charming toasts.

The bride’s best friends set up their DIY decor and some flowers the day of the ceremony.

Some friends of the couple played live music for a few short dances.

And the love the entire time was PALPABLE. Which is quite literally the only thing guests will remember.

Don’t get me wrong I love a perfect golden hour portrait session, a well coordinated venue, and elaborate floral or decor; but I love this just as much.

2026 couples, don’t lose sight of the fact that how your wedding day makes people FEEL, will stick with them much longer than what your centerpieces looked like. 🤍
