I had a wonderful experience going "behind the scenes" at the The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in Haworth. They gave shed tours (where the engines and all the tools for working on them are kept). Lots of history, grease, and coal dust.

This amazing organization maintains steam and diesel engines (and carriages) that run the 5 mile track between Oxenhope and Keighley. Such an amazing job to keep it open especially consider it is run by volunteers.

After a day spent inside stressing over trying to find a ceiling fan that would have a Victorian vibe, I had to get out for a walk on the moors (Pen*stone Hill Country Park). The "god light" coming through the clouds plus the beautiful heather in bloom was the perfect salve for my weary, house-stressed soul.

A brief rain shower last night around sunset came with some fabulous clouds. My favorite spot is up on Cemetery Road overlooking the Lower Laithe and Stanbury areas. Heather is looking good as well (not to mention all the blackberries fully ripened and ready to eat!).

I finally got to visit Top Withens, a ruined farmhouse near Haworth, West Yorkshire. Said to have inspired Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.

Hiked up to the Bronte Waterfall, then up to Top Withens, then down to Stanbury. The day was moody but the heather was really looking lovely. I can understand why the Brontës were inspired by the landscape here.

Yesterday evening walked a bit around Pen*stone Hill. Heather wasn't quite stealing the show but definitely on it's way to looking good. The golden light was lovely and then when I got to Main Street the sky decided to give us a bit of color.

Short walk tonight on Pen*stone Hill over looking Lower Laithe Reservoir and the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

We finally had a little bit of rain but the clouds moving through last night were so lovely. And on top of that towards the end of my walk the sun broke through and the light playing upon the clouds/hills even gave us a rainbow (not greatest rainbow shot).

One of the many things I love about living in Haworth, is the steam trains.

We can hear them (and often see the steam rising on the other side of the trees - suspect come winter we will be able to see through those trees) from our house and it's just a short walk down our lane to the bridge over the tracks.

This morning while the mist hung around, the volunteers were working to oil and polish the engines.

Good Morning Haworth!

After a full day of walking yesterday from Thornton's Bronte Bell Chapel over the moors to Haworth's Bronte Parsonage (9 miles), who would have thought I'd be up at sunrise. Woke up, peaked out my window, grabbed my camera, and headed up the cobbles of Main Street.

A favorite early morning walk is among the graves of over 41k dead in the churchyard of St. Michael's and All Angels. The sounds of the Jackdaws, Rooks, and the Common Wood Pigeon as the village sleeps is strangely peaceful.

Looking towards the church and the Black Bull pub, the sun had just risen enough over the moors to paint the sky a beautiful shade of orange.

Thank you to Garett Wilde Photography for inviting me to join him and his lovely wife Anna as their guest for my first Coffee Rave in celebration of Pride weekend here in Haworth. Thanks to Writers' Bloc Haworth for Beanz and Beats (thanks Jam and Matt).

Great music, tasty drinks, and great way to celebrate that love is love.
