Every painting I create starts with the same prayer:

"Lord, let me use what You've given me well."

Sometimes that means painting a couple's first moments as husband and wife. Sometimes it's preserving the home where generations have made memories. Sometimes it's filling a school wall with encouragement for kids who need to know they're capable of great things.

I never dreamed art would become the way I get to love on people.

Truthfully, I'm happiest working quietly in the background while everyone else enjoys the moment. Most of the time, I'm so focused on my painting that I don't even notice what's happening around me. Every now and then, though, someone sends me a photo like this...one that reminds me what it looks like from the outside.

And I'm grateful.

Not because it's a picture of me, but because it's a reminder that stepping out of the boat was worth it.

There were plenty of reasons not to pursue this path.

Plenty of doubts.

Plenty of "what ifs."

But God has been faithful every step of the way, opening doors I never could have opened myself.

I'm so thankful He gave me these gifts, and even more thankful He allows me to use them to celebrate people's stories, preserve memories, and hopefully create work that points to something beautiful.

This doesn't feel like a job.

It feels like a calling.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."
