AV Workshop recently converted a collection of Aikido martial arts philosophy audio cassettes to uncompressed digital WAVE files. Aikido is both a physical practice and a philosophy that aims to promote peace and personal growth.

This archive contained over 340 verbal interviews with Aikido martial arts masters regarding their philosophies and practices. We converted the cassettes to a high-quality, editable format so the content can be used for books and other media in the future.

We cleaned every tape, captured the audio into our professional sound system, balanced the levels, and output each recording to a digital WAVE file.

Watch a few highlights from a recent video transfer of Coach Frederick 'The Fox' Snowden at the height of his basketball coaching career. Snowden was the first black head basketball coach at a major college in the United States and led the University of Arizona Wildcats to victory several times. AV Workshop converted 3/4" U-matic videotape archives - which documented various games Snowden coached, some of his inspirational locker room speeches, the creation of his game plan strategies, and more.

AV Workshop was honored to help preserve so many tapes that marked a historic time in American sports.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at how we recently transferred a historic archive of 3/4" U-matic college basketball videotapes to digital! U-matic tapes were introduced in 1971 and became the professional standard for broadcast industry edit masters throughout the 1970s. These were the first tapes to transition from an open reel to a cassette format.

We used our industry grade 3/4″ U-Matic decks and high-quality cables to capture the content, applied our HD Upres add-on (1280 x 720 60p), and output the movies to mp4 files.

Get a glimpse into Al Capone's life at his Miami Mansion! AV Workshop recently worked with The Mob Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada to digitize some of Al Capone’s 16mm home movies from 1929.

We scanned this reel frame-by-frame in 2048 x 1536 resolution and output it to an HD mp4 File (1920 x 1080p, 50 mb/s) that can be shared, edited, and uploaded!

The mp4 Files are compatible with most editing softwares (Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker, iMovie). They can be played on Windows, MAC, SmartTVs, etc... and can also be uploaded to video sharing sites such as Vimeo and Youtube.

At AV Workshop, we can now convert your audio CDs to mp3 and WAVE files. You will receive your digital files on a USB Flash Drive. All you have to do is plug in your drive and click whichever album you want to listen to. All the tracks and their info will be right there!

Do you have old photos that are faded, torn, or ripped? We may be able to help! Check out AV Workshop's new Photo Restoration Service.

We scanned this photo at 600 dpi using our Epson V800 Scanner then brought the image into Adobe Photoshop where we began the restoration process. We digitally repaired tears and cracks, removed dust and scratches, eliminated stains, balanced the color, and leveled the image.

Lastly, we returned the original image along with the new restored digital file on a USB flash drive!

Check out a sample of AV Workshop's recent WWII 16mm Film Transfer! These reels specifically featured the Naval Air Transport Service - a branch of the U.S. Navy which assisted with transporting supplies needed for the D-Day Invasion of Normandy.

AV Workshop cleaned, repaired, and scanned each reel frame-by-frame at 2048 x 1536 resolution using our RetroScan Universal Film Scanners. We then applied our Enhanced service in which we balanced the color, saturation, brightness/ contrast, and shadow detail scene-by-scene.

Lastly, AV Workshop output the films to HD mp4 Files. Now, the films can now be edited, shared, uploaded, and played just about anywhere!

AV Workshop recently transferred 16mm film from the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. The customer received these reels from his grandfather who was a pilot during World War II. These reels primarily featured the Naval Air Transport Service (NATS) - a branch of the United States Navy throughout 1941 - 1948.

AV Workshop's HD Film Transfer to mp4 File Service was the perfect option for this project. As digital files, the films can be played, shared, edited, and uploaded just about anywhere - making them easy to view with family and friends!
