Are carousel posts even still cool?? 😂

I’m still trying to catch up on which type of pant leg style we’re on let alone the ever changing Instagram trends so I’ll just stick with what I feel like tells the story best 😂🫶🏻🤍

And there’s something about a carousel that just tells the story well. I got to see this sweet family for the second time after they had a bitter cold & not very fun session last November. This time we picked the warmest time of the year & an epically peaceful spot (minus the militant mosquito population 🫣) for their family photos.

The south Sister was poppin’, we threw rocks in Soda Creek, I enjoyed a whole podcast (🤯) on the long drive. Just a beautiful night with a beautiful family capturing a beautiful season. 🫶🏻

5 years ago today and I met our gentle & spunky second daughter, Margaret. 🥹 The perfect addition, at the perfect time. My silly mini me. She has been such a bright spot in some of our hardest seasons, and a total goof when we need a laugh. She’s experienced so much change in her little life & never misses a beat for it. She’ll take a snooze any where and is always ready to go wherever, usually not even asking where; she’s just always ready for life’s experiences. She’s never met a furry animal that didn’t love her and want her gentle pets. I can’t believe how blessed we are to watch her grow and turn 5 years old this year. 🤍

I’m so bummed to be missing her birthday again this year, but I know God’s timing is perfect, and she knows how loved she is. ❤️

This incredibly chill + sweet new Mama left me a voicemail just before her shoot, worried that maybe they needed to cancel their session.

(I was wrangling my own wild bunch trying to get out the door, so I missed it! 🤪)

BUT, they made it! and the weather was perfect, little Miles was a complete gentleman and absolute flirt, the lighting was the kind of epic only a Central Oregon sunset can rock. 🥹

But This perfect little baby had such a fussy day and well, when you’re a new Mama everything feels like a mountain. 😵‍💫 nothing seems to be controllable or go as planned, and it’s the easy thing to do to just cancel those plans. No matter how big or small! Just the post office or the grocery store can feel like a bridge too far. Just another place where you feel like all eyes are on you as a new mom and whether they share it or not you can feel the opinions of others on your burning cheeks.

Let me take this opportunity to let all the new mamas know; this is not the post office & I am not Gladys behind you rolling my eyes 🫶🏻 I’m a perpetually new mama, too. (For the fourth time in fact! 🤯) so don’t let your session be another one of those stressful events you’re just trying to survive; know that I have seen it ALL, from the fussiest newborns to toddlers that don’t listen to cranky teenagers and there is ZERO judgement here. No matter how wild your day was or how bad naps went, show up and let me take over for a bit, and we’ll get the sweetest photos for you to look back at this time as a new mama when you are no longer feeling in over your head. 💕🫶🏻

My fall schedule is (mostly 😂) put together, let’s get that first session on the schedule and show off that new baby for the Holidays 🤍

It’s wild to think the first dinky Facebook marketplace camera that I bought brought me these incredible friends. 😂🥹 I’m not sure if that counts for the whole butterfly effect trend on here but it’s definitely something special!

And how sweet it’s been to get to know this wonderful family; 6 sessions (?) and tons of birthdays, Super Bowl parties, dinners wrangling kids over the last few years. 💕 literally the amount of hard drives I’d have to track down to share all of the moments we’ve captured!

For their last session in Central Oregon & to celebrate their move to the Wild West of Wyoming; we headed out to for some friendly ponies & cowboy vibes and it was perfect. 🫶🏻 🥹

So grateful that you’ve trusted me with your memories & your friendship 💕🫶🏻

Honestly living for this phase where all of us Millennial Mama’s are bringing back the comfort styles of our 90’s childhoods. 🥹👏🏻

when Katy whipped out the all Denim it immediately took me back to the photo that still hangs in my parents room of all 6 of us in TOP TO BOTTOM denim, not a stitch of ANY other fabric 😂🫶🏻 what a time it was to be a kid.

Let’s bring back big bangs next 😉

“Isn’t it weird being at a stranger’s home birth?”

(One of the funniest questions I get when I talk about birth work!)

Not at all! Because well, we aren’t strangers! by the time I get to document Katy’s birth story, we’ll have met over zoom, hung out for beautiful maternity shots, maybe had a home visit, followed each other on Instagram, and through it all; shared all the woes and wonders of motherhood. And in this community, we’ve even shared a wonderful midwife team!

So no, it’s not weird at all. In fact, it’s the coolest thing to me to see a birth team together. Doulas, midwives, photographers, husbands, grandparents, BFF’s that live down the road. A custom group that Mama gets to hand pick to enter her space. It’s the root of community & it’s totally rad.

Can’t wait for Baby Lamos’ big day! 🥹

Every once in a while the lighting is epic, the clients are the sweetest, the babies are such good listeners, the weather is perfect, the stars align & I just seriously have to pinch myself on my way home 🥹💙

I met this family down by the Sunriver Stables for a short + sweet extended family session on Tuesday night. Extended family sessions are a little different than an individual family session and they honestly took me a bit longer to get the hang of! The goal is to capture everyone together in all the different combos (think wedding fam photos!) but also still authentically catch the relationships, too. I loved getting to see how these little boys interacted with their grandparents, proudly showed off their matching kicks with their uncles, and! each one on their own occasion repping little boy life by biting their mama 😂🫶🏻🫣

Whew!! Its been a while 😜

TBH, instagram just has not been a place where I’ve found much joy this year. Shocker, right?? this little corner of the algorithm is where I first shared my photography work, where I met so many of my incredible early clients; but lately its just so NOISY. Noisy about everything we could possibly feel anxious about; AND, it’s personalized to each of us.

I haven’t felt inspired to share my work or utilize Instagram as the wonderful marketing tool it has been for me because; well, I don’t want to unintentionally add to YOUR noise.

BUT as I’ve spent some time reflecting on social media and its role in my business & personal connections, I DO want to share about things that bring me JOY. 🤍 Things that spark connection. (ya know, the whole idea of this social media idea in the beginning, right? 😉)

So to start off this series of sorts - something that brought me a ton of joy this last year was adding Senior Portraits more consistently to my schedule! It’s been so fun to learn to capture a youngster’s (😅 I can say that now) personality when they’re solo in front of the camera. sometimes we both asked what they should do with their hands! 😅🫣 but I learned so much about each one my unique clients and how to authentically represent them.
August here was one of my favorites; she loved participating in theater during high school and is excited to study film making. She wanted the most urban look we could get, So we wandered Downtown Redmond looking for sweet little pockets of color and textures.
I left her session feeling so energized & full of Joy! 🥹
