In early 2020s in Seattle a new type of DIY spaces arose in Seattle, WA - house venues. BUT! It wasn't like a typical basement in somebody's house... We're talking stuff you could only imagine you would see in the movies, we're talking stage put up in a back yard, we're talking LOUD sound systems, we're talking INSANE bands, we're talking themed shows - like a Punk Prom. Animal House was one of the first ones. Recently, many of them closed down and no longer operate from a backyard but the traditions and the crowds remained.

Punk Prom 5 was organized at the Quality Flea Center but brought Animal House's energy in full! The band that absolutely blew my mind was Radium Girls Ultra. Here's their full set from that show :)

It's sick! It rips! It's awesome!

Shooting DIY shows is always a gamble. A lot of things have to go just right - almost like if the stars had to align certain way... But when it does - it's incredible. Last weekend The Rat Utopia Experiment played their new song "Lobotomize Me" in the cave in Bellingham, WA and it was one of those rare occasions where EVERYTHING worked out just perfectly!

Stage setup and recording provided by Mayalé ( https://www.instagram.com/the.mayale/ ) was fantastic and delivered both in terms of live sound during the show but also a great mix in post-production. The ad-hoc lighting setup provided by the bands got put together just in time. My portable small video setup worked like it should and the addition of the lyrics made this instantly relatable.

I am really proud to be in a position where I can support young talented musicians like Phia (the singer / songwriter). Thank you for an AWESOME show!
