Hi, I’m Katie!
And I have a fear of forgetting my daughter’s freckles the way I forget where I last left my phone or my cup of coffee.
I’ve had a camera in my hand since childhood. Film. Polaroids. The iZone cameras of the 90s. Those pocket sized digital cameras (was it an Olympus?). And now my Canon.
I knew two things about myself before I knew much else — I needed a camera in my hand, and I was meant to teach. I just didn’t know yet how those pieces fit together.
It started with sunsets and for a long time I thought photography was just a hobby. Then I became a special education teacher and everything shifted.
I started to see that every single kid carries something to be treasured. Something specific to them that the world doesn’t always slow down enough to notice.
But I noticed. I couldn’t stop noticing. And I realized I’d been doing the same thing with my camera my whole life — chasing the details that most people walk right past.
That’s when I understood that photography wasn’t just something I loved. It was how I was wired.
I believe that if I preserve a moment, it lives forever. That the way your daughter looked at you today doesn’t have to disappear.
That your family’s story — exactly as it is right now — is worth keeping. And not just on our phone screens, they deserve to be up living life alongside us on our walls.
Every kid. Every family. Every story.
Especially the ones who haven’t always felt seen (and absolutely won’t sit still.)
That’s why I do this. And that’s who I’ll be when I show up for you. 💛
