After a brief rainstorm yesterday afternoon, a rainbow appeared over the eagle nest across the river bridge. The eaglet is hiding behind a branch on the left side of the nest.

This morning at Bay Point Park in Red Wing, an eagle made a quick grab for breakfast and flew by us.

This eaglet is almost ready to fly the coop. He's been exercising his wings for a while and this afternoon he got some serious air. The next step is "branching" by hopping out to the tree branches. From there, he will practice balance and strengthen his wings before taking his first flight. This nest is next to the bridge across the river from Red Wing.

Crows go after hawks in midair, especially during nesting season. Yesterday, a Crow chased a Red-tailed Hawk over He Mni Can/Barn Bluff. Neither one suffered any injury as far as we could tell.
