There’s a special kind of quiet on the backroads of Montana — wide open, wind-swept, and wonderfully unhurried.
Gravel roads stretch toward an endless horizon until a white steeple appears out of nowhere: The iconic St. Olaf Church rises from the prairie like a quiet sentinel, its white steeple standing watch over grazing sheep scattered across the pasture.
In black and white, the scene feels timeless. The sheep like soft clouds at its feet. The steeple pointing heavenward.
A peaceful guardian of land, livestock, and the long Montana horizon.
