📸 Let’s Talk About Lasers & Cameras 🎶
This is a topic that many couples don’t know about, so we wanted to take a moment to explain it in simple terms.
Modern professional photographers often use mirrorless cameras. These cameras allow us to capture incredible low-light images, faster focus, and better overall quality for your wedding day. However, they also have a weakness that many people aren’t aware of: certain laser effects used by DJs can permanently damage the camera’s sensor.
Think of a camera sensor as the “eye” of the camera. When a concentrated laser beam strikes that sensor, it can literally burn pixels into it. The result can be permanent lines, spots, or other damage that may require expensive repairs or complete replacement of equipment.
Unfortunately, this isn’t just a theoretical risk. It is a well-documented issue throughout the photography industry.
Because of this, our contract has always included restrictions regarding laser use during events. If lasers are active, there may be times when we are forced to stop photographing portions of your reception to protect our equipment and ensure we can continue documenting the rest of your wedding day.
Going forward, any DJ working alongside our team will be asked to sign an acknowledgment confirming they understand that laser effects cannot be used while our photographers are actively working. This protects everyone involved and ensures expectations are clear before the wedding day begins.
If a DJ chooses to use lasers after being informed of this policy, any resulting loss of coverage, missed moments, refunds, damaged equipment, loss of product, or related costs may become the responsibility of the DJ or their company.
