Pretty Poppy

A few days ago I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful roadside poppy field, planted by the good folks at Levengood’s Flowers.
They were planted in time to bloom for Memorial Day, in honor of those who gave their lives fighting for our country.
I didn’t arrive until 9:30, so the sun was a bit higher than I would have liked, and I had to do battle with a pretty strong wind. But, using the OM System 40-150mm F/2.8 pro lens at 2.8 allowed for faster shutters speeds, and super-soft backgrounds. Shaded this one with my body. Really liked how it turned out

Roots

This unnamed and not always visible falls only appears after a good amount of rain. While hiking the waterfalls trail at Ricketts Glen, I was happy to see water flowing from the side of the Ganoga Glen.
I believe it is just below Mohawk Falls. This is from May 15th.

I previously posted a similar image from this spot, but this time played around with including this tree with the cool roots in the foreground.

I've been wandering around the yard staring at the plants for weeks, waiting to find something other than fly.
TODAY, I was excited to find 3 jumping spiders, and some kind of winged nymph.
Only problem is I was trying to shoot at 5pm-when insects are super lively, and in a steady breeze. Worst conditions for macro photography. The two images I had with the cute little guy looking at me were completely out of focus. It was mostly an epic fail.😫
But I give myself an A for effort. Time to get in the zone😁

I did manage to capture two almost half decent images.
The first is a 2 image stack, the second an 8 image stack.
Used Focus bracketing on the OM1 MK2, 90mm Godox V860lll flash and AK Diffuser, on 1/128th power.
Stacked in Helicon Focus.

The Ruin and Gravel Garden

One of my favorite images from our workshop at Chanticleer Gardens this past Saturday. I love The Ruin area, and the plantings in the Gravel Garden by the entrance are gorgeous. It was a great morning there!

Berks County Pretty Picture Alert!

Small field of poppies at Levengoods Flowers. They were planted in honor of our service members who lost their lives. Were peak around Memorial Day, but still very nice.
Poppies are across the street. There is parking by the field. If you go, save the spaces in front of the flower shop for those customers.
And be a decent human being and don't go trampling down the flowers to get a selfie. You can get pretty pictures from the edge of the field-like I did😁

These were taken this morning at 9:30 in full sun. Shot towards the sun so they would be backlit. Of course I used a polarizer and a lens hood-as always.😉

Olympus EM1 Mk3, OM System 40-150mm PRO. Most all shot at f/2.8.
Closer shots at end were with the 60mm macro. It was WAAAAY too windy to do much more than this. Didn't think I got any bees in sharp focus, so I was thrilled with these.

Pink Azalea

Every year I try to make it to Winterthur Gardens for peak azalea blooms. The past two years I’ve missed it, thanks to storms wrecking the flowers soon after they reached their peak. This year, and d I timed it perfectly. We didn’t get there early so we battled harsh sun a bit, but were still able to come away with some beautiful shots.
I used focus stacking here to be able to use a wide aperture to soften the background while getting mist of the main flier in focus. 8 shots stacked in camera. Love this feature in my Olympus cameras😊
