HOLIDAY minis are officially on the calendar. 🎄

Sunday, November 15th, I'm setting up a cozy, candlelit holiday set in my Raymond studio, and I'm opening a handful of 15-minute sessions.

Warm light, a real tree, and photos that feel like a Christmas card from a film still. No stiff poses, no stress, Moscow mules for the adults. Just you, the people you love, and a few minutes to catch the feeling.

Sixteen years ago I was taking photos of birds in my backyard. I didn’t know what Lightroom was. I didn’t know what a preset was. I just knew Canon’s shutter sounded better than Nikon’s.

It was just for me then.

It’s not anymore. Now it’s hotels and restaurants and tourism boards, and more than anything, it’s my family. Some days I’m up at 5am. I work weekends when I’d rather be golfing. I travel alone more than I like to admit.

And I still love it. It’s my favorite thing in the world. But it’s not just pretty light and a nice photo anymore. It’s how our bathroom gets finished. It’s how everyone at my table gets their favorite dinner at least once a week. It’s my livelihood, and it’s my passion, and I wouldn’t trade it.

In high school, a teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said, “I want to be known.”

And I truly thought that’s what it was about, but it wasn’t really. Somewhere along the way it stopped being about just me. I have a family, I have a community, and I get to be part of something bigger than myself.

Photography started as something just for me. Now it’s something I get to share. That’s the part I love most.

A reminder that your photos can be whatever they want to be.

My senior photos have been known to be well, not your traditional senior photos. Koa gave me cheesy smiles when I asked but also showed me things he loves. He played chess, he worked in the kitchen, and now he has senior photos that reflect who he is as a person.
