Since I was 12 years old I’ve talked about visiting the venue my mom and dad were married at. ❤️

In March, I finally got to take the trip to see it in person, and it was so special because it was on their 30th anniversary!!! 🥰 I made sure to wear white to celebrate my mom being a bride — I even woke up early and curled my hair just to envision her day the way it was.
PS. My curls will never look as good as hers. 🤍

I grew up with this black and white image hanging on the wall of my childhood home 🏡 And 30 years later, I stood in the EXACT spot they said I do at. ☺️

It was a such full circle moment… because this is why I became a photographer almost 8 (eek 😳) years ago. I know the future kiddos/family who will LOVE having these photos as much as all my couples/families do. Photos are one of life’s greatest gifts.

Life is precious. Take the trips. Take the photos. Celebrate your family and your love. 💗

A Sunrise Maternity Session

Recently, I realized I’ve missed uploading some gems over the years and decided I rather not follow industry rules anymore ( 😂 and before I was a photographer, I never knew they were a thing, so I’ve decided to make my own from now on) and share some goodies with you.

I recall leaving for this session around 4 am and we FROZE our butts off, but this sweet couple has always allowed me to capture their milestones and for that I’m blessed 🥰

And just like that…. I’ve packed 8 years worth ( 😳) of experience into fine-tuning my family sessions! I’ve been working (and reworking😅) an amazing experience! 🙌🏼

I used to think family sessions were about showing up, taking beautiful photos, and delivering a gallery.

The longer I’ve done this, the more I’ve realized the photos are only one piece of it.

The conversations beforehand. Learning about your kiddos, helping you choose outfits, thinking through locations, planning around the light. Sending prep emails and reminders on how important sleep + water is before the session — Making sure everyone feels comfortable.

That’s the part I love.

Because when a family feels cared for, the photos tend to take care of themselves. 🥰

Promoted to big brother ❤️

This session felt extra special because I still remember photographing Leo before he was even here during his mama’s maternity session. 🤍

One of the greatest gifts of this job is watching families grow through the years. The clients who become friends, the babies who become big brothers, and the privilege of being invited back to document each new chapter.

We soaked up the evening light, watched the geese wander by, chased Leo around a little 😆, and most importantly, captured the love that’s growing right alongside this family.

Goodness, I’ll never forget when I first started photography right out of high school. People would ask what my goal was for this business, and my answer was always the same:

“I just can’t wait to capture families as they grow.” 🤍

Sessions like this remind me of exactly that. I met this sweet family during their maternity session just before Leo was born, and now Leo is a big brother 🥰

This time, I got to meet baby Arthur, capture him in the comfort of home with his favorite people, and spend some time hanging out with Leo… it was so fun to capture him with his favorite toys, I’ve decided this is a new addition to in-home sessions for older siblings.

There is something so special about watching a family grow through the years. To witness these new chapters, the excitement, and the joy that fills a home after welcoming a new baby never gets old ✨
