In the 1920s Georgia O’Keeffe began to explore depictions of flowers, a subject that brought her notoriety, both at the time and today. These explorations included large-scale paintings, which often magnify, crop, and simplify the forms to the point of abstraction, and smaller-scale investigations like this one. ‘3 Zinneas’, painted by Georgia O’Keeffe in 1921, is no larger than an oversized postcard. In this small, delicate painting, O’Keeffe uses flat colors to emphasize the shape of her subject rather than its true-to-life three-dimensional form, an approach developed early in her career.

JoAnn McGrath was quite possibly one of the classiest ladies on this planet. She went out of her way to listen to everyone she encountered, no matter what their background. JoAnn's endless philanthropy work and support for the advancement of women were first and foremost on her list of the humanitarian work she joyfully performed during her life. She is and will always be in my heart. 💜
