A restored Great Northern NW5 pulls a photo freight train on the North Shore Scenic Railroad along Lake Superior in Minnesota. The train is passing the depot in Knife River. The train also includes a restored red Great Northern caboose. This scene was captured in 2006 and is featured in our latest video drop on YouTube.

In this video from 2006, we show you a special treat compliments of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. The LSRM operates the Northshore Scenic Railroad from Duluth to Two Harbors. In this segment, we document a special train that was put together for an annual "Railfan Weekend" excursion. The train includes restored Great Northern NW-5 number 192 and a restored GN wood caboose! You will also see LSRM's Duluth Missabe & Iron Range SD-18 and Soo Line GP-30 in action!

The Burlington Northern Railroad was the product of a March 2nd, 1970, merger of four major railroads, the Great Northern Railway, Northern Pacific Railway, Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. A pair of CSX C40-8’s are showing their age as they pull a freight from Minneapolis’ Northtown Yard to LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  The train is passing the famed Dayton’s Bluff in St. Paul, Minnesota. This is a part of our latest YouTube video featuring these now extinct locomotives on the CSX.

Only the lead IC SD70 is powering CN train L506 up Shoreham Hill in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The engineer has the train in Notch 7 as CN’s fuel saving policy prevents crews from using full throttle.
