Three rigs, nearly six years on the road, and we’re still trusting Clearsource Water Filters to keep this show on the road! From our initial DIY campervan to Macho (our expedition box truck) and to now- our new travel trailer, the Ultra 3-stage filtration system continues to be a staple in our setup. Clean water is something we take seriously, and we’re proud to stand behind a product that’s served our family so well!

Idaho recap! Now that we’re getting the hang of this RV thing, it’s back to our boondocking roots! Between hooking up, towing, dumping, and now finding acceptable (free) campsites…our travel def looks and feels a little different these days. However, we won’t abandon our roots in seeking out epic spots to call home for a short while and Idaho sure does check most, if not all, of our boxes!

A little recap and a lotta pictures!! After picking up our new home on wheels in Pasco, WA, we spent a few weeks at Golden Girl Ranch to get solar installed & slowly settle into this Tank. While the boys worked hard to upgrade our power system, Jen almost dug to China to help Katie Doane put in a beautiful goldfish pond, Logan kept watch over the animals including teaching the pups new tricks, and we enjoyed a few family dinners that took some ingenuity to cook. We enjoyed the starry nights, took a side quest to Crater lake, figured out how much Costco groceries fit in our new fridge, and also got some sweet shots of the lunar eclipse from our front yard. Now that we have an oven, Jen wasted no time making some treats & learning the art of sourdough again. Huge thanks to Katie for inviting us into your beautiful safe haven! We couldn’t have done this without you 🙏

For those interested, here’s our solar breakdown:
8x 200W panels (that tilt!!)
2x 600aH lithium batteries in series for 24V
24/3000W Victron Multiplus inverter
150/70 Victron solar charge controller
24/12-70 Orion step down transformer
This is all in addition to an onboard Onan LP generator as well that came standard with the trailer.

Now we’re ready to get back on the road and put this baby to the test! Who’s coming with us??

And so the story continues! Next chapter -> RV Life. Yes, you read that right…we’re officially RVers now 🫠. Did anyone see that coming?? Hate to disappoint all of you who thought we were building another gnarly offroad rig but the truth is this…we’re about as surprised as all of you! With the boys growing so fast, we outgrew our space in Macho. Hence the number one priority in searching for a new home on wheels was something with more room! Without going the skoolie route or building another bigger box truck, there’s just not that many options to accommodate our family’s needs. We were divided on whether we even wanted to build and without all of us on board to do so, the future was clear… RV life was inevitable.

So, how did we settle on this rig: 2027 OutdoorsRV MTN TRX Backcountry Titanium Series 28DBS? Long story short, our plans changed 100x as the RV world is notorious for having problems of all sorts and we wanted to avoid as much of these headaches as possible. We looked at EVERYTHING- new, used, slides, no slides, off road capability, comfort, luxury, reliability, boondocking-ready, resale value, reputation, warranty, customer service, 5th wheels, travel trailers, you name it…In the end, we narrowed it down to two choices, both with all-aluminum framing: the Intech Aucta Sycamore with the curb appeal & no slides or the more practical, rugged, & boondock ready ORV with one slide. With our hearts initially set on the Intech, it took a bit of divine timing, surrender, and redirection that led us to what we now believe is/was the best choice for our family- Outdoors RV . And so about a month after we said goodbye to Macho, we snatched up one of the last new models available in the country at the time.

We’re about a month into this new relationship with Tank(the trailer) & Dozer(our tow vehicle ‘26 RAM 2500 6.4 Hemi)- who gets the reference?? I’d be lying if I said we don’t have trust issues since we didn’t build it. But so far, so good. There’s a few minor quirks but we’re getting the hang of it & trying to embrace this new chapter ahead of us (& enjoying all the new comforts!) Cont’d in comments…

Macho is sold. The end of yet another amazing chapter full of highs and lows that both challenged & rewarded our family in ways that we could have never anticipated. Cliff notes version- our family bond is stronger, we’re more well rounded people, more patient people, and have learned the value in letting go…letting go of things, of the past, of expectations and most importantly- control. We cannot control the future and what will or won’t happen but we most certainly can live in the now and are most grateful for these lessons life on the road has taught us. We are currently going with the flow as we piece together what and how we travel from here on. We’re not ready to settle yet!! We just need more space as the boys continue to grow.

From the spark that lit our fire to pursue full time travel to now- take a trip down memory lane as we celebrate the end of a great chapter and the beginning of yet another unwritten journey that we’re excited to embark upon. Swipe to see the evolutions!

Baja appreciation post!! As we sit back and watch all our friends in Baja right now- we’re flooded with some amazing memories, sunsets, and of course Baja magic!
