March 27,2022
We found ourselves sitting across from one another in the lobby of a dormitory on the campus of our now alma mater. We were being introduced by a mutual friend, and unbeknownst to us, we had begun an unforgettable journey together that day.
We became fast friends, and we scheduled our first hangout for a Friday in early April.
April 8,2022
We decided to get dinner together. We went to Chipotle on Fordham Boulevard and spoke about everything under the sun. We shared old memories from our lives before we met as though we were making up for lost time with one another. We did significantly more talking than eating that day, and that would come to be our relationship dynamic in the coming months and years.
Summer 2022
Between internships and summer classes, we kept up with each other’s lives. We spoke on the phone often, some of our calls lasting for hours on end. Our friendship grew familiar, and somewhere along the way, the dynamic shifted. It did not announce itself or come via a lightbulb moment between us, we just kept sensing nudges from God here and there that solidified the fact that we were meant to be in each other’s lives. One such ‘nudge’ came in the form of a gratitude journal gifted at just the right time.
March 31, 2023
On this day, we realized we were more than just friends. Sitting shoulder to shoulder in Ife’s car (in the parking lot of a popular nearby ice cream shop) we shared words and convictions that would change our lives and friendship forever. We have been inseparable since.
March 30, 2025
After two years of growing in love and grace together, laughing together, and catching each other’s tears, we took it back to where it all began. Ife got on a knee and well, as they say, the rest is history.
