My last birth as a photographer was really, really emotional. It's already an amazing thing to be with a family in one of the most incredible moments of their lives, but knowing it was the last one captured for me definitely made it harder!

This job led me to the midwife I birth assist for now, and she reignited a spark that started when my first was born over 12 years ago. Balancing being on call for birth photography, on call for a midwifery practice and being in school myself was getting to be a challenge so taking away birth photography made the most sense. I still love my maternity, newborn and family shoots but will be passing on births to our amazing community of talented photographers!

Happy birthday to this little man and thankful for every family I've met along the way and their beautiful babies.

It's always interesting to me that the photos I choose to share aren't usually the ones families say are their favorites - it's part of the reason I edit and deliver way too many (I'm trying to get better). I just really want you to have the ones that speak to you! I walk away from a newborn/family session with around 800 photos and culling to a reasonable number (somewhere around 100) is HARD when my families are this adorable!

I've met some of the sweetest, most amazing families doing this. All of these little newborn souls with their own personalities and older siblings that can't stop kissing baby's soft head and cheeks but also want to jump on the bed and show me their cartwheel skills and can I come see their room? They've got a dress to show me from Halloween and the Polly Pockets from grandpa and grandma.

How lucky I am to step in to their world for a little bit and be trusted with it 🤍🤍
