🟣🌙🔴Moons of Jupiter🔴🌙🟣

Space has always intrigued me and it's actually the reason I bought my first camera. This image combines to of my favorite things, astrophotography and landscape photography. Just under the bridge deck is the orange crescent moon flanked by Jupiter. This whole image is like an explosion of color as well. Just so many amazing things to look at with this one.

🌩️🌩️🌩️Dad's Choice🌩️🌩️🌩️

I wanted to get in one more post tonight to close out Father's Day. Since lightning images are my favorite, I decided to revisit some images from a night which featured abundant strikes.

The bolt emerging from the clouds released multiple branches which stretched towards the ground. With all the power and fury in the background, the foreground remained still and dry. A massive contrast to all the energy and action going on in the background. I would love to get a couple more nice lightning storms next month since the last few had lightning wrapped in downpours. Fingers crossed!

The banks of the Mississippi River just after sunset turns into a canvas as the ripples in the river mirror the matching sky. Hoping we can get some clearing as the rain moves out this evening to have a go at some fresh images.

⛴️⛴️⛴️River Traffic⛴️⛴️⛴️

Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there. Being a dad myself, I have to say it's one of the greatest privileges I've ever had. Since it's going to be a little wet and gloomy out, maybe we can all snag a quick nap in our favorite recliner!

Last weekend I went out to capture the moon, Venus, and Jupiter. After the moon set I was watching this barge move upstream with a load so I decided to adjust my setting and capture it as it pushed under the bridge. Notice Jupiter descending right above the street light too.

🔴🪵🔴Redwood🔴🪵🔴

As I was anticipating a little thunderstorm to arrive, hoping to snag some lightning shots, the calm air allowed me to set up this perfect scene. My typical long exposure shots won't allow me to catch the vegetation so sharp due to the motion blur but this one is perfect!

The rising water has washed up some nice chunky pieces of driftwood and I love adding these to the foreground of my images. With the storms and rain moving in tomorrow there will hopefully be some additional driftwood for some new shots!

🌊🌊🌊Golden Ripples🌊🌊🌊

We've been having some pretty fantastic and colorful morning sunrises and evening sunsets here lately. Last night my eyes were drawn to how the golden sunset caused the ripples in the river to glisten and flash like a strobe. I took my telescopic lens out and focused on a random area of the river and snapped a few shots. Now I know this isn't my typical landscape post, but sometimes a little variety is okay. I could've sat there till the sun was set just watching these ripples close up.

The moonset last night was supreme. Flanked by Venus and Jupiter as it slowly descended beneath the horizon. The purple reflection from the bridge danced on the water as fish were jumping and splashing close by.

The crescent moon will appear a little more full tonight as the full moon will appear on June 29th!
