The last 13 years of my life were shaped by photography. It gave me the freedom to be a hands-on mom to Jackson (as much as he’d let me :-)), and it gave me an outlet to be creative. Gabe supported me every step of the way... never questioning, always helping me chase the next idea.

Over the years, I tried it all — families, seniors, weddings, newborns, branding...but bo***ir was always where my heart was. Then COVID hit, turning everything upside down. Six months later, my mom passed, and life shifted in a way I never could have imagined. Out of the upheaval came clarity: bo***ir was my North Star.

The last five years of my career were spent focused solely on bo***ir. Teaching women that they are beautiful, worthy, and powerful! That is what ultimately filled my cup.

Fast Forward...

2025 brought a new set of changes. At the beginning of this year, I stepped into a marketing position. I’m spending time with my dad, who is living with Alzheimer’s. And he is being FIERCELY supported by my stepmom and my siblings. Jackson is about to head off to the Seattle Maritime Academy. Honestly, it’s a lot of change...change that is heart-wrenching.

For anyone who still references images on my pages:

If you want to print → I hope you downloaded your files when I delivered them. If not, I may still have them archived. I can’t promise, and I can’t spend my days buried in files, but I’ll help if I can.

I’ll be phasing my photography pages out in the next couple of weeks, which means images won’t be accessible for long. That also includes any photos or videos you’ve been tagged in — those will disappear as well. I know that sounds a little doom-and-gloom, but I’ll be keeping everything up until the end of the month. You’ve got plenty of time to save what matters most.

Bringing an end to Erinn Hargis Photography weighs heavy on my heart, because it was never just about the pictures. It was about capturing your memories, and I am honored.

I think everyone woman needs to do a bo***ir session at least ONCE in her lifetime! I don’t even care if you choose me as your photographer—I just want you to do one! That begs the question, how do I choose a bo***ir photographer??? So I thought I would do a little series on how to do just that! Let’s start with and easy and possibly obvious one...

Do you like their images??? I know that sounds silly, but it’s important that you know what you like! Take a look at their website and socials. Do you like the imagery that they are posting, and if so, WHY do you like it? Do you gravitate towards images that are dark and moody, or light and airy? Do you like their poses? You may be looking for a photographer who highlights more provocative poses or leans to poses that are more sexualized. You might be drawn to someone who shows more modest images, that focus more on beauty. Do you gravitate to images taken indoors vs outdoors? Do they only show images with serious facial expressions, or do they include images that include playful smiles and laughs? What are YOU drawn to?

Another REALLY important thing to notice…are YOU represented in their portfolio??? This can be a tricky one because bo***ir photographers don’t get to share a majority of their work!!!! That being said, are they showing a variety of women? Are you seeing different shapes and sizes being represented? Are you seeing a variety of ages being represented? Do you feel confident that if you walked into their studio, that they have experience with posing and photographing ALL types of women? The images that they share COULD be an indicatior of this—keeping in mind that they may have experience shooting 70 year old women, but aren’t sharing those images in their portfolio. If you are unsure, you can always ask them!

Bottom line, if you find that you LOVE dark images taken outdoors—that is GREAT! That means that you have found your style! But if you love this style and decide to go with a photographer who shoots indoors with a ton of natural light, you probably won’t be 100% happy with the final product. Figure out WHAT you love, and then find the photographer that can deliver your vision!

I caught this adorable moment during my session on Saturday! I have said it before, and I will say it again!!! BRING A CHEER SQUAD!

During your session I WILL shout affirmations! I have been doing this for 12 years, and I STILL get excited when my clients are killing it! No matter what, it is my “job”, and you might not believe my heartfelt exclamations! BUT you will always be open to and trusting of your besties “Ooooing and Awwwing” from the sidelines!

Book a session! Bring a friend…or two!

If you are feeling overwhelmed by all of the lingerie options out in the world—I totally understand! I always recommend bringing one option that is more casual. Don’t get me wrong, wearing beautiful lingerie looks and feels amazing. It is fun because we are playing “dress up”!!! Incorporating an outfit that doesn’t include hooks, ties, facinators, straps, or several pieces—WILL feel more natural for you. While it is fun to play “dress up”, it’s also fun to be effortlessly YOU!

During college I found myself working in high end hair salons for some extra spending money. When I graduated college, I wanted to put my business degree to use, so I started to look for management positions with corporations that resonated with me. Since I LOVED anything that had to do with hair and makeup, I found myself as the counter manager for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics at Nordstrom. For almost 5 years in the beauty industry, I wore nothing but black (IYKYK). Fast forward 20 years, and my go-to is still BLACK! I have TRIED to shake it up and add color to my wardrobe, but it is a STRUGGLE.

If you show up to your session and all of your wardrobe options are black? Girl! You are speaking my language!!! BUT if you want to add color, but don’t know where to start…you cannot go wrong with jewel tones! There is just something about a deep emerald green, a juicy wine or berry, even a midnight sapphire. These deep and saturated colors photograph BEAUTIFULLY! The rich colors can make any piece of lingerie look high end and luxurious. While my favorite will always be black—incorporating jewel tones can really elevate your look!

As women, we are REALLY good at not being very nice to ourselves. We continuously find ways to undercut our value, beauty, worth, bodies, abilities, and the list goes on and on. That is why it is ESSENTIAL to surround yourself with a personal team of cheerleaders. Trusted confidants, who build you up, call you out, and remind you of who you are!

This woman right here, is one of those strong ass women that came into my life when I needed her most. I had truly given up, and COMPLETELY forgot what I was capable of and what brought me joy. She provided me the space to be myself, the tools and opportunities to push myself when needed, the grace of not needing a timeline, the laughs that are necessary for me to experience levity, and the heart for me to remain consistent and keep coming back.

Sometimes all it takes is for someone to believe in you...until you can believe in yourself. THAT. That—is life changing.

Find ALL OF THE PEOPLE who bring out the best in you! Find ALL OF THE PEOPLE who show you how to love yourself when you can’t seem to figure it out on your own! Find ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE and hold on for dear life!

I am so honored that women come to see me to heal and/or celebrate. Sure there are many reasons to do a session as a gift—and that is fun! But there are so many other reasons women have come to me over the years.
Ready to start a family, struggling with infertility, celebrating a pregnant body, cancer diagnosis, pre mastectomy, cancer survivorship, divorce, heart break, marriage, recently widowed, newly in love, celebrating weight loss, learning to love your body after weight gain, capturing muscle gain, celebrating strength, finding strength, lost sense of femininity, lost sense of self, honoring femininity, conquering a fear, capturing your youth, honoring aging, celebrating a birthday, and for plain old sh*ts a giggles!

Seven years ago today, I gave Gabe a bo***ir album for Valentine’s Day. It was such a fun gift to give, and his reaction to the surprise was so much fun to expierence! This being said, I DID NOT do the bo***ir session for him. I did this session for ME.

I will always RAVE about bo***ir sessions! I am constantly telling anyone who will listen, how much fun they are and how a bo***ir session can be life changing. That being said, let me tell you a secret, I had been shooting bo***ir for about 4 years before I ever got in front of the camera for my own session! I was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED to do a session. This seems silly right? I knew exactly what to expect, and I KNEW it would be an amazing experience. But a bo***ir session is about so much more than having your pictures taken. It is about facing fears and learning to embrace yourself.

You see, what I thought about myself and my appearance had a death grip on me. My insecurities were starting to impact my ability to function. Doing a bo***ir session became a quest to learn to love my self—AS IS.

After doing my session, and breaking through my fear, I felt so incredibly strong! The feeling of embracing who you are…instead of fighting it—is BEYOND powerful. By accepting myself, flaws and all, so much of my shame was instantly wiped away. Feeling brave and powerful IS sexy!

Still to this day, my bo***ir experience is a constant reminder to let go of unreasonable expectations. To realize that these expectations are NOT important. WHO I AM, is what is important.
Being me, facing my fear, and learning to practice self love. For me, THAT is what bo***ir is all about.
