Lady of the Lilies

Where the swamp water breaks and the surface glows gold. When sunset hums and croaks chatter and the koi settle. You just might catch a glimpse of her, rising from the greens and blues. Spending her time tucking away each water blooms, until they’re ready for bed. Each petal pressed in care, with purpose. During the day she sleeps on the ponds mucky bottom, rich with life and earth. Until the hum of sunset calls, wakes her from her dreams. Calling her to do what she must, caring for the waters.

Keeper of the Roses. She lives where the trees are thick and ground springs plenty. Take the path of smooth clay and quartz. There at the heart, you’ll find a gray church house swallowed by a sea of roses. Deep reds and soft pinks, their smell on the breeze. Where the light hums in the afternoon, whispering golden life through stained glass windows. She cares for the thorns, for the blooms, for the roots. Ever watchful over her domain.

A Spring Morning with little Emma

A birthday spent in isolation on the mountain. Stuck in a little cabin, unable to be with most of my family or friends. Age 27 never felt so odd. But as a spring baby, I’m more than happy to be able to look at the window and see flowers in bloom instead of the usual snow. To feel the warmth of the sun through my windows and know that I’ll be spending most of the day in the garden. Although this time looks different, it’s still good. The baking lavender cookies, picking daffodils in a new dress kind of good.

The Sea of Wonder.
I could live amongst these waves of white hydrangeas. Between the two large rows, a tiny path has just enough room for a soul to slip through. It feels like wandering through a dream, the blue sky the only anchor you have. It is one of my favorite places to be and I do my best to visit as often as I can during the summer. Picking your own flowers and seeing swarms of butterflies is all I need for a good day. This image is of the lovely , inspired by the pre-raphaelites. We had so much fun working together and I can’t wait for more!

The Nymph of the Falls.
The earth stood still. She could not tell where she was or who she was. The sound of roaring water and the bed of greens felt like home. She drifted quietly through, between the space of sleep and awake. Where butterfly wings are carried along by the strong winds of the waterfall. Where the water is crystal clear, pooling in the dark, endless caverns.
She belonged to it, heart of the mountain. Caretaker of the ferns.
Tending to the sacred waters.
