Some stories are meant to be talked about.
This scar tells a story of survival, endless prayer, some leftover anger, but hope for the future. Strength that was never asked to be seen by the world, but maybe the world needed to see it to realize it.
For Brain Tumor Awareness Month, I had the absolute honor of photographing my best friend Cameron (on the same day she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding!!!). I photographed her and we laughed, we made funny signs, we went through old memories on each other’s phones from 10 years ago… And man…Those laughs are important.
I photographed this not as just a scar, but as a testament. A testament to the resilience that she’s been forced to have. A testament to still laughing on the really scary days. A testament to life changing news at the age of 25, but being strong anyway. A testament to completing Radiation and being (almost) half way done with Chemotherapy. A testament to closing some doors, but opening new & beautiful ones.
I love you Cam. Brain Tumor Awareness Month has never looked so beautiful 🩶
