I am a food reviewer but I am also intrigued by food and its origen. Today i want to talk about the Boston Cooler. Now I have a slightly upset stomach sitting around today i got ginger ale and was sipping on a vanilla milkshake. May I add not bad. So I looked up to see if i was a genius and created something new.... well today was not my lucky million dollar idea.
Here is some info on the Boston cooler and Vernors Ginger ale.
Boston Cooler is a classic Detroit treat made by blending vanilla ice cream and ginger ale together into a creamy, frothy, milkshake-like drink. Despite the name, it is a Michigan original—not from Boston—and traditionally requires local Vernors Ginger Ale. This is information straight from Google.
Vernors Ginger Ale was invented in Detroit, Michigan, by pharmacist James Vernor. It was first served to the public in 1866, making it the oldest surviving ginger ale brand in the United States.Company history says Vernor put the syrup in an oak barrel before he left to fight in the Civil War. When he came back four years later, the aging process had changed the mix into a smooth, delicious drink.
