Tiny details. Big love.

There’s something special about seeing your baby’s first portraits not just on a screen… but beautifully displayed in your home.

We approach family photography the way an interior designer approaches art—thoughtfully planned, beautifully crafted, and designed to live where your family lives.

Because these aren’t just photographs.
They’re the beginning of your family’s story.

And honestly? They look pretty amazing on the coffee table too.

“Excuse me… do you mind?”

Sir.
You are a week old.

And yet… the judgment in this face is unmatched. 😆

Newborns are absolutely wild. They come into the world brand new… and immediately start giving us expressions like they’ve been here before and are slightly disappointed in how things are being run.

The furrowed brow.
The intense eye contact.
The “I didn’t sign off on this photoshoot” energy.

And honestly? I love it.

Because these tiny, hilarious expressions are gone in a blink. In a few weeks, this serious stare will soften. The squishy newborn scrunch will stretch.

So yes… we capture the sweet sleepy images.
But we also capture this.

The personality.
The opinions.
The tiny human who already runs the house. 🤍

Brendan was TWO when we created this.

Two.

I just found that out, and I’m honestly blown away all over again.

Because look at that expression.
That commitment.
That full-body drama.

When his mom told me he loved Band-Aids, I knew he was perfect for the concept. (Because let’s be honest — most kids would tolerate about two before staging a full removal protest.)

But what I didn’t fully appreciate at the time was just how little he was.

Two-year-olds don’t usually take detailed direction.
They don’t typically hold expressions on cue.
They definitely don’t “act.”

And yet… he did.

He listened.
He followed instruction.
And when I asked for big, dramatic energy — he delivered like he had a tiny acting coach in his back pocket.

This image went on to receive a merit through Professional Photographers of America, meaning it was judged at a national level and recognized for excellence in creativity and storytelling.

In normal language? It’s an award-winning image. 🏆

But knowing he was TWO?

That makes it even better.

The entire concept was inspired by a Shel Silverstein poem about Band-Aids — the wildly exaggerated, over-the-top kind of childhood drama that feels completely real when you’re small.

And Brendan didn’t just pose for it.

He embodied it.

Two years old.

Still can’t get over it.

Simply Pure newborn sessions are intentionally uncomplicated.
A new baby. His mom. His dad. And the quiet connection that’s already there.

No over-styling. No distractions. Just space to slow down and document this beginning exactly as it feels.

This season is brief—but it’s full.

As we gather in this season of hope and reflection, I can’t help but marvel at the profound impact of Jesus' birth, prophesied 700 years before it happened by the remarkable prophet Isaiah. This time of year, when we celebrate love, compassion, and the promise of new beginnings, reminds us of the incredible narrative that has shaped not only my life but countless others across generations. The anticipation and fulfillment of those ancient words resonate deeply in our hearts, igniting a sense of wonder and gratitude.

The writings of Isaiah are not just historical texts; they are a testament to the divine orchestration of events that changed the world forever. Each line is steeped in meaning and purpose, calling us to reflect on our own journeys and the transformative power of faith. I often find myself longing to see these sacred writings in person, to feel the weight of their significance and to connect with the spirit that has inspired millions throughout history.

Let us take this opportunity to celebrate the light that shines through the darkness and embrace the hope that Jesus brings into our lives. Share with me how this season touches your heart and inspires you. Together, let’s cherish the beauty of faith, love, and community. ✨💖

One-year-olds don’t need much.
A little comfort, a familiar snack, and room to be themselves.

What’s your child’s comfort item right now?
