His mom simply wanted to remember who he is right now.

There's something special about this age. They're beginning to look like the adults they'll become, while still carrying pieces of the little kid you've always known.

Those are moments worth preserving too.

Thee biggest mistake families make when choosing outfits isn't the colors. It's trying too hard.

Keep it simple:
Start with one outfit color palette.
Mix textures, not busy patterns.
Coordinate, don't match.
Wear something that feels like you.

Senior portraits will always be one of my favorite things to photograph, but lately I've been thinking about all the years that come before them.

Somewhere along the way, we decided those years weren't worth documenting the same way. We wait until graduation is around the corner, even though high school is full of moments that deserve to be remembered.

This young man is only a freshman. Four years from now he'll look different, carry himself differently, and be getting ready for his next adventure. I'm so glad we didn't wait.

Senior year is an incredible milestone, but it isn't the only chapter worth celebrating. Sometimes the portraits you'll treasure most are the ones you almost talked yourself into waiting on.
