Two Thornscrub Vine Snakes (Oxybelis microphthalmus) spotted in Southern Arizona a few weeks ago with and . About 5 minutes after I woke up in the backseat of the car for the morning, I spot one moving through a small bush while looking out the window. After running out to grab it Ryan goes to park the car and spots another in a bush about 50 feet away from the first. It felt like quite an accomplishment to finally get not one, but two Vine Snakes after about 45 man hours of specifically targeting this species. Last photo is insitu.

My lifer Eastern Hognose Snake (Heterodon platirhinos) cruised in Southeastern Colorado last fall with Caden, Hayden, and Anthony. This snake was very special as it represents the 9th live individual to ever be found in the state. This was also the last species Caden and I needed to accomplish our goal of being the first to find every currently documented snake species on the Eastern slope of Colorado in a single year. One of my favorite animals I have had the pleasure of encountering. Last photo shows their signature death feigning.

A large “Hopi” Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis “nuntius”) hiked up in Southwestern Colorado last year. While they are no longer recognized as nuntius I still consider this to be my lifer.

A Plains Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus), a flat tire (not pictured), and a rainbow found last summer on a fun day of herping. This snake was attempting to eat an extremely dry and barely noticeable dor earless lizard from the road when we first cruised up on it. It then proceeded to play dead in typical Hognose fashion.

My lifer Greater Short-horned Lizard (Phrynosoma hernandesi) hiked on a slow but fun day with Caden and Remi. This is a species I really wanted to find last season due to my love for Phrynosoma. Hopefully this season I will be able to find the third and last species of the genus that can be found in the state; that being the Roundtail Horned Lizard.
