I am very pleased to share some more photos from my trip to Colorado last month!
Let me tell you, being on a train for six hours through the Rocky Mountains with effectively no cell service was an amazing chance to unplug, connect with my friends, and be really present in that space and soak it up into my memories as best I could.
Thankfully I had a camera with me and truly nothing but time to spend, so I also got a chance to explore my surroundings with my second set of eyes too!
To me, portraiture is the ultimate act of love. Yes, the location is important, but the trip wouldn't have been the trip it was without the people who were there with me. That sentiment extends beyond the outlines of my party and includes every person on the train because they all add to the magical atmosphere of the Zephyr, even if we didn't directly interact (such as the folks in the first and fifth frames). I can't overstate how important they all were to the experience, and so it was also equally important to capture their portraits.
Beyond the sentimental value, there's something objectively and undeniably breathtaking about the light that comes in through the windows of the observation car on the Amtrak California Zephyr as the train winds through the Rockies. I am thrilled to have been able to capture even a drop of its magic in these images, and even happier to get to share them with all of you. Consider these images as what my dreams of this trip look like, and your viewing them is taking a step into my brain!
Hopefully, my posting these is alluring you to book a trip of your own soon. I love this place and this form of travel so much and I can't help but spread the word to anyone who will listen.
Still more to come xx
