Yesterday we entered an entirely new chapter in our fairytale life. We are so excited to welcome Ezekiel Rafael to the world.
It is difficult to put into words the various feelings and thoughts I have, but allow me the opportunity to attempt a few here.
Prior to Ezekiel, I was never really a baby person. I would wait to really hold them until they could hold their own head up. That all changed immediately. I want him in my arms and I don’t really want to share.
I don’t know what made me different. I suspect that a part of it was that when we had our kids, I was overwhelmed with love. My capacity for love and emotions instantly doubled. But at the same time, there was the added mix of new unknown responsibilities and questions of if we would parent right.
With Ezekiel, I am free to only think about all the love I have for him while simultaneously knowing what a terrific father Elijah is going to be. It is a right of passage that in many ways helps us feel like we did a good job as parents.
My first thoughts when I entered the room after Ezekiel was born were the following in this order: Oh wow! Johneline looks so beautiful and glowing. She just had a baby less than an hour earlier, but looked just perfect without an ounce of makeup or time to really prepare for the flood of people about to come see the baby. I am happy I can bring them some much needed food (thanks to Uncle James). I need to wash my hands and give at least 30 seconds to Nancy to hold. And then it was, “Oh My! Ezekiel is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!”
This young child has no idea how much he is loved.
I am so thankful and blessed. God has been so good to me!
