1st Annual Wabanaki Ancestral Paddle
Date-May 15th 8am
Start Location- Motahkomikuk Indian township.
End location- Penobscot nation boat landing

This paddle is a living tribute to our Wabanaki ancestors and to the coastal homelands that have shaped our identity since time immemorial. Carved with intention and carried with respect, it represents a journey of reconnection—back to the waters and lands that sustained our people, the shorelines that hold our stories, and the ancestors whose strength continues to guide us.

Each stroke of this paddle honors the enduring relationship between the Wabanaki and the dawnland. It is a reminder that our homelands are not just places on a map, but living relatives—lands and waters that remember us, even when the world tries to forget.

This paddle also stands as a symbol of our movements today: a call for visibility, sovereignty, and the protection of our coastal territories. By carrying it, we carry forward the voices of those who came before us and those who will follow. It is both a tool and a message—an invitation for others to learn, to witness, and to stand in solidarity with us as we reclaim our stories, Lands and strengthen our presence across the dawnland.

looking for volunteers to cook breakfast lunch and dinner as food and water will be provided to all paddlers, transport for paddlers belongings and a volunteer safety boat to es**rt our paddlers along the way. i want to invite groups from all five Wabanaki tribes to join and represent them. please like and share this post with your relatives!

Aaron Dana for Maine Senate!
Integrity, Honor, Honesty and for the Maine people!

My name is Aaron Dana, and first and foremost, I am a father, and a proud member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe. I was raised with strong values, faith, hard work, respect for others, and responsibility to community.

For the past four years, I’ve had the honor of serving as the Passamaquoddy Tribal Representative in the maine state House of Representatives. Before that, I served two terms on the School Board, with my second term uncontested, and later on Tribal Council at Indian Township from 2014 to 2018. Public service has never been about politics to me it’s about the people.

I’ve also spent much of my life in public service roles. I’ve been a certified police officer serving both Passamaquoddy reservations since 2006, and I’ve worked as a 911 dispatcher, helping families during some of their most difficult moments.

Outside of government and public safety, I’m a carpenter by trade, a timber harvester, and a fisherman. I know what it means to work long hours, depend on the land and the water, and provide for a family the honest way.

I stand for doing what’s right. I stand for protecting our downeast way of life, standing up for our communities, and making decisions based on integrity and common sense. That’s who I am, and that’s how I will always serve

When people say Native Nations were “conquered,” it’s usually a sign they weren’t taught history.

Native Red Cloud breaks down why treaties exist, how sovereignty was recognized, and how violence, broken agreements, and forced assimilation were used instead of outright military defeat.
