This is a shot of the Pike County Central High School Marching Band I took a few weeks ago during their halftime show when they played Shelby Valley. I am shooting B-Roll footage for a documentary Jackson D Latta is working on of the band, they are on their way to a competition that very few High School Marching bands in Eastern KY have got to compete in. National Recognition. This marching band is good, very good!! I am excited to see what Jack’s final product turns out to be and excited that I get to be a small part of it.

Yes the flight was permitted by Pike Central and the referees at the game even though I did not technically fly during the game, I was still launching and landing the drone on school property. There were also multiple announcements made to make everybody in attendance aware of the drone even though I was on the other side of the field. So do not think you can go there or any other high school sporting event and think it’s ok to do this, your outcome will be different than mine.

Compassion Pediatrics of Pikeville Fall Festival. This was the first year for this event. I cannot say enough good things about it either, these people know how to do it and most definitely are an asset to their community. Thank you for getting me to do some shots from the air of it and thanks to the many people who recommended me for the job, I was surprised at the things I was told. If you missed the festival, I’d keep this one in mind for next year. Here’s a few still shots I took while shooting some footage, at one time traffic was backed up all the way to US 23. It was busy, a lot of fun, and free to the community!! Look forward to next year!!!

Long post, hopefully it will educate you.
To whoever was flying the drone during the Prestonsburg/Martin County game tonight, the refs stopped the game because of it, and of course who does everybody think it was? Yep that would be me. Then when I was seen with no controller in my hands, and me receiving a phone call, that left a few of you scratching your heads. Here’s the education part.

Flying drones during a high school football game is prohibited by the KHSAA. For quite a few reasons but the safety of the people in attendance is first and foremost. The refs will stop the game and they did tonight. Not to mention if you’re caught launching/landing from school property without permission, you could face criminal charges. If you think I’m bluffing, do some research. With that being said I knew all of this before tonight and have for a few years now. If I put my drone up I put it up either before the game, after the game, or both. Halftime maybe but probably not. Depends. NEVER, do I fly during the game nor do I fly over the stadium, I know better. If I do I’m collaborating with school staff, the refs, and putting people on notice. That’s the right way to do it. Plus I am a FAA licensed drone pilot, I prefer to keep it that way. So there you have it, some education about drone use during football games, and about me as a drone pilot. You can reach out to me anytime with questions, I will be more than happy to educate you in any aspect of it. The picture was taken before the game tonight. I landed right before the game started, then went in to watch the Blackcats be victorious over Martin County. Congrats to the Prestonsburg Blackcats on the win!!!
